Frank Sinatra Count Basie Orchestra Lyrics

Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like on
A-jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me
And let me sing forevermore
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
Fill my heart with song
Let me sing forevermore
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words
In other words
I love
You
The song “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra and Count Basie is a romantic and dreamy ballad that expresses the desire to escape from the earthly mundane to somewhere new and magical. The lyrics talk about flying to the moon, playing among the stars, and seeing what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars. It’s a request and invitation for the lover to hold their hand and kiss them, filling their heart with song and singing forevermore. The lyrics express an infatuation towards the lover, worshipping and adoring them, and asking them to please be true, meaning to be faithful and honest towards the singer.
The song’s imagery of space exploration sets a whimsical tone and creates a sense of adventure and wonder. The moon and the stars symbolize a place apart from society’s daily routines and troubles, while Jupiter and Mars represent far-off destinations that evoke the joy of discovering new worlds. The lyrics ask the lover to share in this dream and experience it together, signifying the singer’s trust and reliance on this person. The song makes use of poetic devices, such as metaphors and repetition, to emphasize the singer’s affection and intense longing for their love.

It's Saturday morning, and I just listened to this for two hours, looping. I am still not done. I may just listen to this all day long. It's impossible to be anything but light hearted, impossible to resist singing, impossible not to feel yourself dancing.

I'm glad this this video gives Count Basie the credit he deserves for this song.

Truly in deed....
@gibbogsi
Literally cannot listen to any other version of this anymore absolute masterpiece!!!
@TimClarkeJazzTrumpet
Quincy Jones should get some of the credit too. He wrote the arrangements and conducted the Basie band on this.

@@gibbogsi This version is awesome (I am the one who posted this, after all). But I would also humbly suggest the slower Tony Bennett version. Mr. Bennett carries some gorgeous notes and it's a different but quite beautiful rendition of the song.

@@TimClarkeJazzTrumpet Go easy on me lol ... I had two small babies when I first posted this. Hard to focus on these things. But I corrected it now.
