The Best Is Yet To Come
Frank Sinatra and Count Basie & His Orchestra Lyrics

You came along and everything started'in to hum
Still it's a real good bet
The best is yet to come
Best is yet to come and babe won't that be fine
You think you've seen the sun
But you ain't seen it shine
A wait til the warm up's under way
Wait til our lips have met
And wait til you see that sunshine day
You ain't seen nothing yet
The best is yet to come
And babe won't it be fine
Best is yet to come
Come the day you're mine
Come the day you're mine
I'm gonna teach you to fly
We've only tasted the wine
We're gonna drain the cup dry
Wait til your charms are right for these arms, to surround
You think you've flown before
But baby you ain't left the ground
Wait till you're locked in my embrace
Wait til I draw you near
And wait til you see that sunshine place
Ain't nothing like it here
The best is yet to come
And babe won't it be fine
The best is yet to come
Come the day you're mine
Come the day you're mine
And you're gonna be mine
The lyrics to "The Best is Yet to Come" by Frank Sinatra and Count Basie & His Orchestra's song are a beautiful and emotional expression of love. The singer muses that when he is feeling low and the world is cold, just the thought of his beloved will bring him warmth and a sense of comfort. These sentiments are followed by the description of the beloved's physical beauty, with her warm smile and soft cheeks. The singer states that there is no other option but to love her just the way she looks tonight.
As the song progresses, the tender emotions of the singer grow deeper. He describes how her words and tenderness tear down his fears with each passing moment. Her laugh, which wrinkles her nose, touches his foolish heart. The singer implores the beloved to never change, to keep her breathless charm just the way it is. He concludes the song by repeating the sentiment that he loves her just the way she looks tonight.

Some day, when I'm awfully low
One day, when I am feeling hopeless and down
When the world is cold
In times when everything around is gloomy
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
I will feel warm inside by just the thought of you
And the way you look tonight
Just by imagining the way you look
Yes, you're lovely, with your smile so warm
You are stunning with a lovely, warm smile
And your cheeks so soft
Your cheeks are so soft to touch
There is nothing for me but to love you
There is nothing to do but to love you
With each word your tenderness grows
Your softness increases with every word you speak
Tearin' my fear apart
Breaking down my fears inside
And that laugh, wrinkles your nose
Your laugh wrinkles your nose
Touches my foolish heart
Your laugh touches my silly heart
Lovely, never, never change
Beautiful, never change
Keep that breathless charm
Retain that enchanting charisma
Won't you please arrange it?
Can you please preserve it?
'Cause I love you
Because I love you
A-just the way you look tonight
Exactly the way you look tonight
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose
Your laugh, which crinkles your nose
It touches my foolish heart
It touches my silly heart
Lovely, don't you ever change
Gorgeous, please don't ever change
Mm, mm, mm, mm,
Just the way you look tonight
The exact way you look tonight

My favourite video of The Chairman of The Board.
With Count Basie on the piano, a superb arrangement from Quincy Jones, and a band showing how Swing, (Pure Swing!) should be played. Frank knew he was in the presence of supreme musicians in their own right. Marry that with a voice like Ole Blue Eyes and its the closest to perfection for me!
Frank had a great time doing that. You can tell. It's not only in his voice, it's in his overall performance. His moves, his face and in his eyes........
So glad we have this on video to watch....over and over ๐ถ๐ค๐ถ๐ค๐ถ
God Bless You Frank. You are, and will forever remain truly 'The Voice of a Century' ๐ค โค RIP ๐
