Don't know the reason why
I've been a good guy all of my life
Don't let love pass me by
Why won't the moon ever smile for me
It makes me wanna cry
I've been waiting a long, long time
Every night, I pray and pray
And do what I oughta do
Hope to find someone to love
Please make my dream come true
Why won't the moon ever shine for me
Don't let my dream fade and die
Just this once, please shine for me
Don't let love pass me by
I've been a good guy all of my life
Don't, don't let love pass me by
Don't let love pass me by
The lyrics to Frankie Avalon's song "Don't Let Love Pass Me By" convey a sense of longing and desperation. The singer of the song is lamenting his lack of romantic fulfillment, despite being a good person. He wonders why the moon seems to shine for everyone but him, and begs for a chance to find love before it's too late.
The repetition of the phrase "don't let love pass me by" underscores the urgency of the singer's plea. He has been waiting for a long time and feels as though his chance at love is slipping away. The use of the moon as a symbol of unattainable love adds a touch of melancholy to the song, as the singer compares his own struggles to the natural cycle of the moon's phases.
The final verse of the song finds the singer praying for a chance to find love and hoping that his dreams will come true. The repetition of the phrase "I've been a good guy all of my life" reinforces the idea that the singer is deserving of love, and his plea to the moon serves as a poignant reminder that sometimes love can feel as mysterious and uncontrollable as the tides.
Overall, the lyrics to "Don't Let Love Pass Me By" paint a compelling picture of a person struggling to find love in a world that seems to be passing them by. The use of vivid imagery and repetition make the song a powerful ode to the human desire for companionship.
