Sunrise Serenade
Frankie Carle Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Good morning
Good morning
You sleepyhead
It's dawning
Stop yawning
Get out of that bed
Say the air is soft as silk
It's time to get the morning milk
Come on!
Wake up!
Get up!
Look at the grass
Silver in the sun
Heavy with the dew
Look at the buds
You can almost see
How they're breaking through
Look at the birds
Feeding all their young
In the sycamores
But you better get on
With your morning chores
Just take a breath
Of that new-mown hay
And the sugarcane
Looks like tonight
There should be a moon
Down in lovers' lane
There you go daydreaming

When it's time that you obeyed
That sunrise serenade

This tune is so sweet and relaxing to listen. I like the way the piano and the backing instruments are played, in the right time to give a grand effect, and I recall my late Mom, everytime I listen it.

I too first heard Frankie Carle at home. He was my mother's favourite and those times she put on one of Frankie's records and we listened together sparked my interest in piano. This was in Ontario in 1949.❤

Great melody, in which music flows so naturally. Every time I hear it I remember my Dear Mom. Through she left me long ago, I shall always remember her.

Beautiful! The piano is so well played and harmonized to the other instruments, which are played in the right time, so the result is great to hear and enjoy
