I Believe
Frankie Laine Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I believe for every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
A candle glows
I believe for everyone that goes astray
Someone will come to show the way
I believe
I believe
I believe above the storm the smallest prayer
Will still be heard
I believe that someone in the great somewhere
Hears every word
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky
Then I know why
I believe
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky

Then I know why
I believe (Why I believe)

Indimenticabile!
(Which sounds so
much more profound and enchanting than
"unforgettable!"
And is appropriate since Frankie Laine was of Italian heritage.
We should have absorbed more
Italian words into
our English, which
we indeed DID do
with French; around 50%!!!!!)

This song got me through a troublesome childhood, I can remember being around 7, 8, 9 years old walking through my yard singing this song as well as "You'll Never Walk Alone." Was always singing them both.

That's a very poignant message. I to have fond memories of this song. I have instructed my son to play this whence I depart.

I got introduced to poetry when I was about 9 and from 10 to 16 I was severely bullied at school but the poetic rhythm and lovely words to this song kept me alive and helped me stay sane.

I remember when I was in my 12th grade, my English teacher ask us to bring music to be played, and to be followed by our comments. I brought ''I believe'' (Frankie Laine). One of the student stood up and yelled: ''This is no music. Let's play a Dave Clark's song.'' Without waiting, I answered back: ''At least, we can understand the words he is singing.'' This happened in late 60s. I will always remember my teacher's eyes. Pride because deep down he knew I was right and I stood up for what I believe.
