This song began as the theme tune to b-movie "Thunder in the East" (1952), which the Music Director, HUGO FRIEDHOFER, composed. Jay Livingstone and Ray Evans then took it up and turned it lazily into a 3 1/2 stanza song in English, Its incompleteness is demonstrated by Frankie Laine adsding an opening stanza which, sadly, no one else has adopted.
