Frank Joseph "Frankie" Lymon (September 30, 1942 – February 27, 1968) was a… Read Full Bio ↴Frank Joseph "Frankie" Lymon (September 30, 1942 – February 27, 1968) was an African-American rock and roll/R&B singer, best known as the boy soprano lead singer of a New York City-based early rock and roll group called The Teenagers. The group included five boys, all in their early to mid teens. The original lineup of the Teenagers, an integrated group, included three African-American members, Frankie Lymon, Jimmy Merchant and Sherman Garnes, and two Puerto Rican members, Herman Santiago and Joe Negroni.

The Teenagers' first single, 1956's "Why Do Fools Fall in Love", was also their biggest. After Lymon went solo in mid-1957, both his career and those of the Teenagers fell into decline. Lymon eventually fell into heroin addiction, and died in 1968 at the age of twenty-five.

In my opinion, this is Frankie and the boys best song. I was able to get a boxed set " import " of 5 cd's with all the tunes they did, and, I must say, it was terific.I think I have been listening to him for about 52 years now, and, it never gets old...his voice was terrific, I heard SMokey Robnison say he ( Frankie ) was one of his early idols.....thanks so much for posting, listen again, and enjoy......

The greatest kiddie lead singer of all time. Lost to the scourge of Heroin. { I'd have the death penalty for drug dealers} I still have the NY Daily News article about his death in 1968. ALL of his group sides were great especially SHARE, PAPER CASTLES and of course this one. THANKS Frankie and the Teenagers for all the listening pleasure you gave us.

Thanks for posting this song. Reminds me of skating backwards with my girlfriend back in Detroit. During the fifties and sixty's neighborhood skating rinks and basement parities with great music was laced throughout our neighborhoods. I feel blessed to have lived back in Detroit during those years listening to great music. I don't look at Detroit the way it is...I look at the way it can be.

This song could have been Frankie's epitaph. Heroin will put you out in the cold permanently. What an effen shame he sunk into that pit. One of the greatest voices from the golden era of rock silenced prematurely. Michael Jackson could only look back on Frankie with envy but he couldn't hold a candle to him. Neither could anyone else.
