Sara
Frankie Paul Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Go now
Don't look back, we've drawn the line
Move on
It's no good to go back in time

I'll never find another girl like you
For happy endings it takes two
With fire and ice
A dream won't come true

Sara, Sara
Storms are brewin' in your eyes
Sara, Sara
No time is a good time for goodbyes

Danger
In the game when the stakes are high
Branded
My heart was branded while my senses stood by

I'll never find another girl like you
For happy endings it takes two
With fire and ice
A dream won't come true

Sara, Sara
Storms are brewin' in your eyes
Uh oh oh oh
Sara, Sara
No time is a good time for goodbyes

(Hey Sara)
Love me like no one has ever loved me before
(And Sara)
Hurt me, no one could ever hurt me more
(Oh Sara)
Sara
(Hey Sara)
Nobody loved me before

I'll never find another girl like you
With fire and ice
A dream won't come true

Sara, Sara
No time is a good time for

Sara, Sara
Storms are brewin' in your eyes
Sara, Sara
No time is a good time for goodbyes

Sara, Sara
Storms, are brewin' in your eyes
Sara, Sara
No time is a good time

No
Why did it, why did it all fall apart

Overall Meaning

The song "Sara" by Frankie Paul is a heartbreaking account of a relationship's bitter end. The lyrics express a sense of regret and longing for a love that has been lost. The song begins with the singer urging his beloved to leave and not look back. The line "we've drawn the line" suggests a finality to the relationship that cannot be undone. He urges her to move on and not dwell on the past, but the singer is filled with sadness and grief at the thought of losing her forever.

The singer then admits that he will never find another girl like her, and that happy endings require two people who are willing to work at it. The line "with fire and ice, a dream won't come true" suggests that the singer recognizes the passion and intensity of their relationship, but also acknowledges the conflicts and struggles that ultimately tore them apart. Despite their differences, the singer still loves Sara and wishes that they could have made it work.

The chorus serves as a haunting reminder of what has been lost. The storms brewing in Sara's eyes suggest that she is hurt and angry, while the line "no time is a good time for goodbyes" speaks to the suddenness and finality of their breakup. The second verse describes the danger and intensity of their relationship, with the singer admitting that his heart was branded - permanently scarred - by their love. The final lines of the song express a sense of hopelessness as the singer wonders why their love fell apart.

This dude was everything. Grew up listening to him as my favorite reggae artist then finally met him. Ended up becoming fast friends and he turned out to be one of the most down to earth, humble men I've ever known. I'm talking about moving about grocery shopping together, on that level, my whole family knew him good good.. The irony is, no matter how human he was, every single time he opened his mouth to sing he became this supernatural phenomenon to me, that part never changed. Frankie would start singing and I'd have to leave the room it was so unbelievable that he was standing right next to me and I was hearing that voice. It never got old to me. My children called him uncle, that's how close we were. Some voices and people will never come around again and his was definitely one of them. RIP Frankie, you're definitely missed still in 2022.
