Valli scored over twenty-five Top-40 hits with The Four Seasons, a handful of Top-40 hits dubbed as a solo act in the late 1960s, one dubbed as The Wonder Who? in 1965, and again as a solo act in the mid to late 1970s. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with The Four Seasons in 1990.
Valli started his singing career in 1952. He cut his first single in 1953 as "Frankie Valley" –-a name he adopted from Jean Valley, his favorite female singer. In the mid-1950s he split up with The Travellers and joined The Variety Trio, which consisted of Tommy DeVito, twin brother Nick, and Hank Majewski. They redubbed themselves The Variatones, and later as The Four Lovers. Under this moniker, they scored a Top 40 hit with "You're the Apple of My Eye" in 1956. After a few more name changes, the group finally settled on The Four Seasons in 1960. About the same time, Valli Italianized his name to its current form. Nick DeVito and Majewski left the group in 1960 or 1961. Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi replaced them.
With Valli as its lead singer, The Four Seasons had a series of hits, including five number one singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Their first chart-topper was "Sherry" in 1962. They scored their final number one single in the U.S. in 1975 with "December 1963 (Oh, What a Night)." The song enjoyed a second run on the U.S. charts in 1994 (credited as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons) when a remixed version hit #14 on the Hot 100.
We're All Alone

And it may never end
So cry no more
On the shore, a dream
Will take us out to sea
Forever more, forever more
Close your eyes and dream
'Neath the waves
Through the caves of ours
Long forgotten now
We're all alone, we're all alone
Close the window, calm the light
And it will be all right
No need to bother now
Let it out, let it all begin
Learn how to pretend
Once a story's told
It can't help but grow old
Roses do, lovers too
So cast your seasons to the wind
And hold me, dear
Oh, hold me, dear
Close the window, calm the light
And it will be all right
No need to bother now
Let it out, let it all begin
All's forgotten now
We're all alone, oh, we're all alone
Close the window, calm the light
And it will be all right
No need to bother now
Let it out, let it all begin
Owe it to the wind
My love
The song "Alone" by Frankie Valli talks about finding solace in someone amidst a difficult situation. The opening lyrics suggest that it may rain for an extended period, but the singer encourages not to cry anymore before taking them on a dream to the sea where they are all alone. The refrain "Close the window, calm the light, and it will be alright" emphasizes the need to find peace in the present moment and not worry about the future.
The lyrics speak of forgetting the past and holding onto the present by learning how to pretend. The last few lines of the song suggest that everything will eventually come to an end, just like stories and lovers. However, the singer urges the listener to cast their worries to the wind and hold them close in the present moment.

I remember the Rita Coolidge version which was excellent and of course Frankie's is also a good version. But for me the original by Boz Scaggs is just unbeatable.
Brian Cormack Carr
Agreed. Boz's version has an unmatched sincerity.

I just returned from seeing Boz Scaggs in concert. Let me tell you, the man is 78 and he’s still got it. What an amazing talent.

The great Boz Scaggs proves here that he can write songs that are universal and different artist can put their own expression into it. I love Rita's earthy treatment of this song.

Beautiful. Love Frankie's voice and delivery.

Rita Coolidge's version of this song in 1977 is the best I have ever heard. This song is a masterpiece and a classic.
