Already in his youth, Frans Bauer wanted to become a singer after he was inspired by Julio Iglesias, Elvis Presley and Koos Alberts (a Dutch singer). Bauer's own singing career started in 1987 when he recorded his first single, "Ben Je Jong" (Are You Young), under supervision of Dutch producers Rudi Schreijenberg and Emile Hartkamp.
In January 1992 he met his later wife-to-be, Mariska van Rossenberg. He was a local celebrity before rising to national fame due to the national television show "All You Need Is love" in early 1992, where he was to choose two female fans for a date. In 1994 he had his first national hit with "Als Sterren Aan De Hemel Staan". In 1997 he conquered Germany with his album "Weil Ich Dich Liebe".
Frans Bauer's fame kept growing to the point where he had his own reality show called "De Bauers", in which his daily life, including his family life, was followed. Bauer has also designed clothing for the Vroom & Dreesmann retail chain, based in The Netherlands.
He has won several awards and honours in The Netherlands, including a knighthood ("Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau") due to his charitable work and the "Gouden Televizier-Ring" for the reality show that has been running on Dutch television the year previously.
In 2006 he was struck by an infection on his vocal cords. He recovered after surgery.

In the song "Het Leven Blijft De Moeite Waard" by Frans Bauer, the lyrics capture a reflective and introspective moment of contemplating the changing seasons and the passage of time. The opening lines convey a sense of nostalgia and longing for the youthful excitement that comes with the arrival of spring. However, the singer acknowledges that as they have grown older, the thrill and anticipation of new beginnings have somewhat diminished, highlighting the inevitability of aging and the way one's perspective on life evolves over time.
As the song progresses, the singer describes their morning routine, where they face the day with a mix of weariness and determination. Despite the physical challenges of getting out of bed and feeling the weight of age on their shoulders, there is a sense of resilience and acceptance in their actions. The act of making a cup of chamomile tea and looking at oneself in the mirror becomes a ritual of self-affirmation, where they find solace in acknowledging their own worth and vitality, even in the face of limitations.
The lyrics delve into a philosophy of embracing the present moment and finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. There is a poignant reminder to focus on what one still possesses rather than dwelling on what has been lost or missing. The reference to the proverb "niet geschoten is altijd mis" (you never know until you try) underscores the importance of taking chances and appreciating the opportunities that come one's way, no matter the stage of life one finds themselves in.
Ultimately, the chorus of the song encapsulates a universal message about the value of life and the enduring beauty that can be found in every age and stage. Regardless of one's age or circumstances, the sentiment that life is worth living is reinforced, emphasizing that the essence of existence lies in one's capacity to love and appreciate all that life has to offer. The repetition of "Het leven houdt" (life persists) serves as a poignant reminder that despite life's challenges and changes, the fundamental essence of living remains constant and worth cherishing.
