I'm unaware of the story of the Swan but this song conveys an aura of magic and darkness so perfectly it's no wonder this piece has been used so frequently in cinema

The play itself is so good but I don’t like how Tchaikovsky ended it. I prefer the version where Odette is trapped in being Odile it gives more tragedy, more drama, and more emotion — the idea of hopelessness and being trapped in a false love.
