New Jersey native Lauren Frawley knew she wanted to be a singer from the time she was a kindergartner. In 2015, she drew the attention of labels, management, and millions of listeners when her uploaded cover of Alessia Cara's "Here" went viral. She was 14 at the time. Subsequent covers included songs made famous by the likes of Adele and Demi Lovato. As a high school student, she dedicated time away from school to practicing piano, learning to play guitar, and working on writing songs.
After finishing high school and signing with Island Records, Frawley issued her debut single, "Hard Boy," in mid-2019. She followed it later in the year with tracks including the Beck-referencing "Losers," "Easy," and a label-issued cover of the Cranberries' "Zombie." More singles followed in 2020 and 2021, including "Knocking on My Heart," "Austin's Song," and "No One Can Fix Me," the latter of which became her biggest hit to date. During this time, Frawley was racking up co-writing credits (Hunter Hayes, Dixie D’Amelio, Tate McRae, and Icona Pop) and working with John Legend. She kicked off 2022 with the punchy "Kiss and Tell" and the wistful "If I Don't Laugh, I'll Cry."

Trying to make it in this world
We were just like the rest
Didn’t doubt or imitate
We kept true to our stakes
We weren’t
Just like the rest
Five years between our ways
One ocean would separate
But we were always
Just like the rest
No reason to evacuate
Little reason for the break
We were
Just like the rest
Oh
She didn’t love my heart
She loved my songs
That girl
She came undone
By every song
And our world
It wasn’t meant for everyone
So let me go on
Let me sing on my own
Let me be my own man
Let me fight it out
See the world in the dark
Tired and lonely
She felt sad
Acted out against her plan
She was
Just like the rest
Patience was my plan
Distance in demand
But I was
Just like the rest
Couldn’t save her if I tried
Well everyone wears their pride
She wasn’t
Just like the rest
And my heart slowly died
And my pride could only cry
She wasn’t
Just like the rest
Oh
She didn’t love my heart
She loved my songs
That girl
She came undone
By every song
And our world
It wasn’t meant for everyone
But it was for me
And it was for her
And we stood true to
The things
We’d do
The song "Just Like That" by Frawley talks about two people who were navigating through life, trying to make it in the world. They had a deep connection with one another, and there seemed to be little reason for them to part ways. They were true to their values and didn't doubt themselves or imitate others. Despite being separated by an ocean for five years, they remained true to themselves and were "just like the rest."
The lyrics also touch upon a romantic relationship that ultimately does not work out. The girl in the relationship was not in love with the singer's heart but was in love with his songs. She fell apart by listening to every one of his songs, but their world was not meant for everyone. The singer expresses his desire to be his own man, fight things out, and explore the world alone. He is tired, lonely, and sad, but he remains true to himself.
In summary, the song "Just Like That" talks about two people who were true to themselves, trying to make it in the world. They had a romantic relationship, but it did not work out. The song talks about emotional pain, heartbreak, and the desire to be independent.
