Losers
Frawley Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sometimes I think I was born to fail
Sometimes I drink whisky from a holy grail
Sometimes I′m scared that I'll never live up to your expectations
Some night I get in trouble with my friends, apologise
But I know we′ll do it all again
Sorry Mom, I think I just messed up my reputation
I dialed heaven but I got rejected
And I didn't even leave a message
If we go to hell I won't regret it
′Cause at least I get to go with you yeah

′Cause all my friends are losers
And we were born to lose
Ya all my friends are losers
But if I die and go to hell
Then you know it, oh well
'Cause at least I get to go with you yeah

′Cause all my friends are losers (Na-na-na-na-na)
And we were born to lose (Na-na-na-na-na)
Ya all my friends are losers (Na-na-na-na-na)
But if I die and go to hell
Then you know it, oh well
'Cause at least I get to go with you yeah

All of my friends have anxiety
Got to have it all figured out by twenty three
That′s why we think too much and over complicate things
Kicked out of school, did I let you down?
'Cause my mama cried when they threw me out
If I could go back, I′ll tell myself not to worry

'Cause all my friends are losers (Na-na-na-na-na)
And we were born to lose (Na-na-na-na-na)
Ya all my friends are losers (Na-na-na-na-na)
But if I die and go to hell
Then you know it, oh well
'Cause at least I get to go with you yeah

I don′t care anymore
I′m a loser baby
So why don't you kiss me?
I don′t care anymore
I'm a loser baby
Ah so why don′t you kiss me?

'Cause all my friends are losers (Na-na-na-na-na)
And we were born to lose (Na-na-na-na-na)
Ya all my friends are losers (Na-na-na-na-na)
But if I die and go to hell
Then you know... ′cause at least I get to go with you

I don't care anymore
I'm a loser baby
So why don′t you kiss me?
I don′t care anymore

I'm a loser baby
Ah why don′t you kiss me?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Frawley's "Losers" illustrate the feeling of not fitting in and accepting one's flaws. The first stanza talks about the fear of not living up to someone's expectations, while still enjoying doing things that are frowned upon by society, such as drinking whiskey. The lyrics suggest that the singer may have messed up his reputation and dialed heaven, but got rejected, indicating that he feels unworthy of being accepted by society's standards.

The chorus goes on to talk about how all the singer's friends are losers and how they were born to lose. This statement comes across as accepting their faults and celebrating their differences, as if they have created a bond through their shared status as "losers." The verses then describe how all the friends in the group deal with anxiety and overthinking, which is again a trait not appreciated by society as a whole. They are people who have been kicked out of school, not living up to the expectations that society has built for them. However, despite all this, they still come together, still accept each other, and still embrace their flaws.

The bridge of the song is the singer declaring that they don't care anymore and have accepted themselves as losers. They urge the listener to accept them for who they are and kiss them. The song is a celebration of not fitting in and being okay with it, and embracing the people in your life who accept you.
