The band released two albums: "Drive Thru Booty" in 1995 and "More Of Everything For Everybody" in 1996. The debut album features the hit single "Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out". "Song #6" from the band's follow-up album was featured in the critically-acclaimed 2004 movie Code 46.
The band broke-up after exhausting touring and Norman Cook thought he'd make a go of his little side project Fatboy Slim. Some of the tracks for the rumoured follow-up to "More of Every..." were re-worked for the first album from the solo project "Ashley Slater's Big Lounge".
The Whip
Freakpower Lyrics

But they do got a means to an end,
cuz they got juice and they got plenty of lovin'
and a big heap of beautiful friends.
I know some people didn't know that they're born,
They don't know the soles of their feet.
Well you can't fight a war when you got lovin' in store
there on the sunny side of the street.
Everybody get hip to it
Ain't nothin' missin' we got a pot to kiss in
We got karma, we am what we am.
It's up to you because the best that you can do
is the best that you can.
My situation is the fellation nation,
dancing to the brotherly beat,
Well you can't fight a war when you got lovin' in store
there on the sunny side of the street
The opening lines of Freakpower's song "The Whip" describe a group of people who lack material wealth but possess other assets that make their lives fulfilling. They have "juice," or personal influence, and "plenty of lovin'," implying a thriving social life. These individuals also have "beautiful friends," suggesting that their relationships are enriching in more ways than one. The second verse describes another type of person: someone who is disconnected from their own body and their own sense of self. This person might be struggling to navigate life's challenges, as they don't know where they stand in the world. The chorus brings these two groups together, inviting everyone to "do the whip" and join in a communal celebration of life's pleasures.
Overall, the lyrics of "The Whip" seem to be celebrating a philosophy of living in the moment and finding joy in what one already has. The song suggests that by cultivating positive relationships and embracing one's own identity, one can rise above larger societal problems and focus on enjoying life's simple pleasures. The whip dance itself, which serves as a central metaphor in the song, represents this celebration of life through movement and connection with others.
