Fred Durst is the lead singer for the band Limp Bizkit. Durst was born in Jacksonville Florida where he grew up with his mother and step-dad - a local police officer.
Durst joined the Navy at the early stage of his life where he found it difficult to cope with the rules there.
He left the Navy to become a tatoo artist where he slummed life until he met KoRn who were on tour at the time. Durst persuaded them to give them a tatoo in a desperate attempt to get to know the band. Durst had been going around to local gigs around Jacksonville where he was looking to recruit band members to "manage". He spoke to Sam Rivers (bassist) who agreed to join Durst and proposed that Rivers' cousin John Otto (drummer) would join to. Durst jumped to the idea and eventually formed "limp bizkit". They could not find a singer so Fred had became the singer of the band unintentionally.
With Durst now friends with KoRn he gave Ross Robinson - KoRn's producer, a demo tape which he loved. Durst began his dream of being a rockstar.
Life in the spotlight hasn't been easy for Durst and has had many rivalries with Eminem, Trent Reznor and a failed "relationship" with Britney Spears.
However now with the band being on a hiatus, Durst is also pursuing his dream of being a film director with a few projects in the pipeline.
Forever

Lynn, God bless
All you punks shut the fuck up
Shut the fuck up
I said shut the fuck up
And all you punks step the fuck back
Step the fuck back
Oh, you like that, don't ya?
I know you like that, don't ya?
Well like what you like
Lynn liked his life
I said Lynn liked his life
You don't know what you got until it's gone
And you don't know what you've lost until it's gone
Bring it
Lynn, God bless
Lynn, God bless
All you punks shut the fuck up
Shut the fuck up
I said shut the fuck up
And all you punks step the fuck back
Step the fuck back
Yeah, step the fuck back
Oh, you like that, don't ya?
Do you like that, don't ya?
Well like what you like
Lynn liked his life
I said Lynn liked his life
You don't know what you got until it's gone
And you don't know what you've lost until it's gone
And when somebody that you know goes away and dies
They're gone
They're gone
They're gone
Forever
Every second you're alive is just a countdown
Every second you're alive is just a countdown
My life
Your life
His life
Her life
It's all so temporary!
You don't know what you got until it's gone
And you don't know what you've lost until it's gone
And when somebody that you know goes away and dies
They're gone
They're gone
They're gone
Forever
The lyrics to Fred Durst's song "Forever" are a reflection on the temporary nature of life and the importance of cherishing the time we have with our loved ones. The song is a tribute to Lynn Strait, the lead singer of the band Snot, who passed away in a car accident in 1998. The song includes lyrics such as "Lynn, God bless" and "Lynn liked his life," paying homage to the late musician and his love for life.
The song also takes a confrontational tone towards "punks" who need to "shut the fuck up" and "step the fuck back." This seems to reflect the frustration and anger that Durst may have felt about Strait's untimely death and how it may have been preventable. The repetition of the line "you don't know what you've lost until it's gone" is a powerful reminder that life is precious and can be taken away in an instant.
Overall, "Forever" is a heartfelt tribute to a fallen friend and a powerful reminder to live each day to the fullest and appreciate those we have in our lives.

Man Fred's energy on this track is immense. It really takes me back to those days. Is that Mike Smith on the guitar? Didn't mind him on RMV but this track is so instrumentally bland. It could've been hard AF!
