A Little You
Freddie & The Dreamers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
every lie you tell me
A little good in all the bad
you do....yesss
So instead of running away
Why don't you listen
when I say
All I want is just a little you
I've been wanting you to say
the words, I love you
A little love is gonna make
all my dreams come true...
So instead of running away
Why don't you listen to me
when I say
All I want is just a little you
Ooh, there's nothing in this
world I couldn't do
If you would only say
you love me true
'Cause, baby, all I want is
a little you
Through the day and through
the nighttime too
Just a little you.....
There's a little truth in every
little lie that you tell me
A little good in all the bad
you do, yes
Instead of running away
Why don't you listen to me
when I say
That all I want is just a little you
Ohhhh, child,
I said all I want
is just a little you...
Freddie & The Dreamers's song A Little You is about the desire for a significant other's attention and affection. The lyrics suggest that even though the person may do some bad things or tell lies, there is still some good within them. The singer wishes for them to listen to his words and not run away, as all he wants is a little bit of their love. He believes that with just a little bit of love, all of his dreams can come true. The lyrics convey a message of hope, trust, and a belief that love can conquer all.

I believe "A Little You" is the group's best recording. Freddie was the most underrated singer from the British Invasion. He could out sing a great number of lead vocalists. Here's to those wonderful times!
BleedBNG
I'm really surprised it didn't take in the States. Would have liked to have heard this song as a kid.

@BleedBNG It was on Freddie and the Dreamers' best album, "Do the Freddie". It started the second side, if I remember right. I wore that album out!

Freddie often acted like a clown distractung from his
music. This & do the Freddie I still listen to, a very
upbeat song

@BleedBNG it did briefly hit the top 40 in the US, but no, it wasn't as big as "I'm Telling You Now" or "Do The Freddie". The group was thought of more of a novelty act , and music critics couldn't stand them like the fans did, despite attempts to sing serious ballads like this one & "I Understand." "A Little You" was their last US Top 40 as the fad of The Dreamers waned in the US after that. 1965 was definitely their year.
wigginswarrior
Probably Freddies best recording, sadly only reached no.26 in the UK charts. Don't hear enough of him on the radio these days even on the 60/70/80 stations.
Wesley Cook
Best recording by Freddie. The Holly influence is definitely here.
george smith
Brilliant singer very underrated group wish we could bring them all back
Clive Exton
A totally underrated mega-talent. The best true singer of the whole British Invasion.
Medieval Richard
Great song, great band and a very underrated band at most. Cool re-master. :)
