Freddie Mercury feat. Montserrat Caballe Lyrics

Subalashii asaga akelu
Yoakega yobikakelu
Kokorono izumiga wakidelu
Yumeno yo

I feel the power of a stranger inside me
A force of magic surrounds me
This fountain within me is overflowing

Peaceful and inviting
Beautiful and enticing

Yoake kisetsu yume kibo
Umito hikariga yondeilu

Rising sun will bless my morning with a smile
A magic pearl from the seas
Born in a willow breeze
Loyal friend my guardian angel in the sky
You've served me well all these years
Greeting with both hands trusting with no fears
Till the end

Toikuino anatani miselalete
Amalinimo utsukushii yumenoyo
Itsumademo ii

Aino hikali kiboto yume

When everything is golden and everything is oh
Fuji no yuki, Kyoto no ame, Tokyo no yolu
And everything is ah

Fire and beauty
My only living treasure on this earth
Aaaah

(kibo hikali yume)

Asaga hohoemikakelu
Itsumo kimi dakewa kokolonotomo
Toikimino omokage shinonde
Amalinimo utsukushii yumenoyo

When everything is golden
And everything and everyone is ah

Yoake, kisetsu, yume, kibo

Yoake, kisetsu, yume

Hikali, kisetsu, yume, kibo

Hikali, kisetsu, yume, kibo
Hikali, kisetsu, yume, kibo

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé's song La Japonaise describe the beauty and wonder of Japan, with a focus on the transformative power of nature and the magic that surrounds us. The song's opening lines refer to a "stranger" within that brings about a sense of mystical power and an overflowing "fountain" of emotion. The chorus speaks of a "rising sun" that blesses the morning with a smile, as well as a "magic pearl from the seas" born in a "willow breeze." The verses are full of imagery related to nature, with references to snow on Mt. Fuji, rain in Kyoto, and the beauty of the seasons.

Throughout the song, there is a sense of peace and tranquility, with the refrain "yoake kisetsu yume kibo" (morning, season, dream, hope) reinforcing this theme of serenity and optimism. At the same time, there is a deep reverence for the beauty of Japan and its culture, with lines evoking the country's traditional tenderisms, as well as a sense of the enduring power and majesty of nature.

Overall, the lyrics to La Japonaise suggest a feeling of gratitude and appreciation for the beauty of the world around us, while also acknowledging the transformative power of the unknown, the inexplicable, and the mystical.

最高すぎた ヨナ抜き音階が心に染みる
日本人でよかった。伝統的な音階や楽器が用いられているのにも感動。

I am currently reading Peter Freestone's book and he talks a lot about how Freddie and Montserrat met and started collaborating to make this album. They had so much admiration and respect for one another. I think Montserrat came into Freddie's life at the perfect time to help him realize and draw out that next level of his song writing genius and astounding vocal ability. It was already inside of him but he hadn't fully explored it until they met. He admired her so much and wanted to make her proud and it allowed him to tap into the next level of his brilliance as a musician. I am so happy Freddie had the opportunity to work with Montserrat before he died. Now they are together again, no doubt serenading the angels with their exquisite voices.

Freddie had established himself as one of the best composers of all-time MANY years before he met Montserrat. Just saying.

There was no limit to Freddie Mercury's talent. I keep stumbling across more and more songs he sang. What a lose his death was.
