The lyrics to Freddy Kalas's song "Reidar" are simple but catchy and highlight the singer's admiration for a man named Reidar. Reidar is described as a unique performer and despite facing difficulties, he remains strong-willed. The song repeatedly emphasizes Reidar's ability to sing "rai rai" with enthusiasm and passion, and this is where the catchiest part of the song lies.
The phrase "rai rai" is typically used in Norwegian to refer to a type of dance music that originated in the late 19th century, but has evolved over time to include more modern and varied styles. In the context of the song "Reidar," it seems to represent a positive attitude and a zest for life that Reidar exemplifies. The lyrics suggest that despite whatever obstacles come his way, Reidar's spirit will remain unbroken, and he will always be able to sing "rai rai."
It's unclear who Reidar is or if he was a real person, but the song's popularity in Norway suggests that he may have been a well-known figure in the country's music scene. Overall, "Reidar" is an upbeat and positive song that celebrates a man who embodies the spirit of the "rai rai" dance genre.
