In 1952 he joins an international competition for the first time in Belfast, Ireland, where he wins the first prize.
However it takes till 1954 before he records his first songs, mainly songs about life at sea and some country music.
He soon extends his career by learning to act, and he will join several movies in Germany.
1956 sees Freddy representing Germany at the first Eurovision Song Contest together with Walter Andreas Schwarz. It is the only year that countries enter the contest with two songs. No points are given, and only the winner, Lys Assia is anounced.
Freddy's songs however become instant hits in Germany, Austria, Luxemburg, the Netherlands and Belgium and several other countries.
"La Paloma","Junge, komm bald wieder" and "Die Gitarre und das Meer" bring him fame, golden records and many awards.
Freddy keeps singing all his life, and in 2002 he makes his last tour, which ends in the city where he is born : Vienna.
Morning Sky
Freddy Quinn Lyrics

da schwebt sie über allen Bäumen.
Du entfliehst all deinen Träumen
und schaust hinauf zum Himmelszelt.
Vom Morgenrot zum ersten Blau,
das ist nur eine kurze Zeit.
Doch zum Abend ist es weit,
da kommt noch vieles was dich freut.
Morning Sky, schuwaddy schuwaddy,
Morning Sky, schuwaddy schuwaddy
Morning Sky, dieser himmelblaue Morgen
vertreibt die dunklen Sorgen,
und wir leben wieder neu.
The song "Morning Sky" by Freddy Quinn speaks of the beauty and hopefulness of a new day. The first verse describes the sun rising above the trees, causing the singer to escape from their dreams and look up at the sky. The transition from the reds and oranges of the morning to the first blue hues of the sky is fleeting, but the day holds much promise, and the happiness and joy it may bring is still far off, to be experienced later in the evening. The chorus repeats the phrase "Morning Sky," posing the question of what the day will bring and whether the promises of the morning will come to fruition.
The second verse continues the theme of change, with the singer pointing out the shifting patterns of the clouds and the gleaming river down in the valley. Everything is constantly changing, moving, and evolving, just as quickly as thoughts come and go. However, the morning sky is a beacon of hope, allowing the singer to cast aside their worries and embrace the day with a newfound enthusiasm. The final chorus repeats the same message of the previous ones, highlighting the beauty and optimism of the morning sky and its potential to bring about new beginnings.
