Shenandoah
Free The Fallen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Now you’re all blind,
Take a look through my eyes.
I'll make you realize.
Follow me, escape into reality.
This world will heal, all souls.

Once again, I have all odds stacked against me,
I’ll show you truth instead of your fiction.

I scale these cliffs with you in mind. (x2) You watch me from the base, hoping I’ll come crashing down. (x2)
Step back, look at yourselfWhat have you become? (x2)
This world is blind, Pick yourself up,Get on your feet...

This song has a double meaning into it. It's actually about the place, Shenandoah National Park and how it can work wonders into the very fabric of your soul. The breath taking scenery and everything else in the Park is astounding. I could sit there for hours and hours, just at total peace with myself, I've done my deepest thinking there, and it can easily do the same for you.
This song is about how you can have everyone in this world doubt you and put you down, but instead, you never give into how they feel about you. They are the ones that should look at themselves and realize that they are the ones in the need of change.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Free The Fallen's song "Shenandoah" convey a message of hope and resilience, urging listeners to see through the blindness of the world around them and find their own truth. The opening lines, "Now you're all blind, take a look through my eyes. I'll make you realize," suggests that the singer has a vision that others lack, and that he wants to share that vision with everyone. He encourages them to follow him and escape into reality, a reality in which the world can be healed and all souls can be saved.

The second verse of the song is somewhat more introspective, with the singer reflecting on his own struggles and the obstacles he faces in life. He acknowledges that the odds are stacked against him, but declares that he will show "truth instead of your fiction." He then sings of climbing cliffs with someone in mind, with the person standing at the base hoping he'll come crashing down. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for the challenges we all face in life and the people who try to bring us down. The singer encourages listeners to step back and look at themselves, asking "What have you become?" before urging them to pick themselves up and get back on their feet.
