I Don't Know
Freedom N Acro Lyrics

Verse 1: The not so christian from my own
Decision kid, they call me Freedom cause that's
What repentance did, confusion and surprise in
Your eyes, the answers don't come with a simple
Compromise, no fact to back the stacks of rice
Paper crap, testaments of new and old no conscious
Tips intact. Can't preach to you all the answers
In a quick session, ultimately you'll have to ask the
Right questions, a quick toke lesson, rice paper
Cover page all you rollers will be amazed. Need the
Answer to all the shitty day to days, keep lookin'
All that book will do is help you get slaved shaved
Pressed dress ready, pretend away, America's past
Time hobby McDonalds, now open in your church
Lobby.

Chorus: I Don't Know, Don't believe in magical
Blessins', I Don't Know all the answers to the life
Questions, I Don't Know were I'll end up, till then
Do my best just to fill the cup, I Don't Know what it
Is that I'm gonna do and I Don't know exactly who
Created you, but when I sit down and think about
It, what I do know is exactly the same as you.

Verse 2: If my skin was just a little more vivid then
I'd throw a solid fist up, wither the grips of twisted
Content maladjusted bullshit, fear driven tales of a
Misnamed dictatorship. Hold up wait a minute,
Quit worryin' bout your status in this funky
Lifestyle gimmick. Board that apparatus that will
Help you descend don't pretend livin' in fear doesn't
Give this a happy end. Just creates the inevitable,
Religious war once again well that's questionable.
Whats left over you call your soul, and still you say
Fake believe that's what makes you whole. Why do
You let it rule your dome why do you give way shit
Why pretend to pray, why have that quote
Unquote faith, if you don't know what to do then
What should you say???

Chorus: I Don't Know, Don't believe in magical
Blessins', I Don't Know all the answers to the life
Questions, I Don't Know were I'll end up, till then
Do my best just to fill the cup, I Don't Know what it
Is that I'm gonna do and I Don't know exactly who
Created you, but when I sit down and think about
It, what I do know is exactly the same as you.

Verse 3: I Don't know call it a new philosophy, I
Don't know if that's technical terminology
Productively I be standing on my own two feet,
Seductively avoiding deceit. Imma say what I feel
As long as what you continue to hear is ideal
Conscious thoughts for the ear, no need for fear,
We'll rule the world with a pen not a sword can't
Find knowledge in a rock or gold. An inquisition
With defined intention to eradicate, your religion
For some mental nutrition. Writing rhymes cleared
Free from prison, no need for permission your your
Own opposition. So quit pretending start listenin' I
Teach a new believe system, life's a bitch you can't
Do much, with knowledge your rich but I guess I
Really don't know too much.

Overall Meaning

Freedom N Acro's song "I Don't Know" is a reflection on the artist's personal philosophical and spiritual journey. The first verse speaks to the confusion and complexity of belief systems, criticizing the notion that one can simply preach all the answers in a quick session. The artist emphasizes the importance of asking the right questions and seeking conscious tips, rather than blindly following religious doctrine. The verse also critiques the prevalence of consumerism, with McDonald's now opening in church lobbies, highlighting the idea that materialism has infiltrated religious institutions.

The chorus repeats the refrain "I don't know," indicating the artist's awareness of their own limitations when it comes to answering life's big questions. They reject the idea of "magical blessings" and instead encourage listeners to focus on doing their best and filling their cup. The artist acknowledges that they don't know what the future holds, but that they are just like everyone else in this regard.

The second verse speaks to the artist's frustration with organized religion and traditional belief systems, pointing out the fear-driven tales of a "misnamed dictatorship." The artist pushes back against the idea of pretending to pray or having "fake faith," emphasizing the importance of finding one's own belief system and not letting someone else rule your dome. The verse ends with a call to action, encouraging listeners to seek knowledge through writing and conscious thought, rather than weapons or material possessions.

Overall, the song seems to be a meditation on the limitations of human understanding and the importance of finding one's own path in a complex and confusing world. The artist encourages listeners to question, seek knowledge, and avoid blind obedience to established belief systems.
