What Goes Around

No more hookers or lsd
If i'm wrong
Is it right
No more winding myself up tight
We're okay
We're alright
No more winding myself up tight
Well i've had money and drugs and fame
I've pissed my money all down the drain
I've pissed all day
I've pissed all night
I've pissed my demons well that's alright
I've pissed day
And all night
I've pissed my demons well that's alright
I gave away the good times
In the place of good times i got bad
Well i got bad
Well i got bad
Well i got bad
What goes around comes around
Well i got bad
What goes around comes around
Well i got bad
What goes around comes around
Well i got bad
What goes around comes around
The lyrics of Freeheat's song "What Goes Around" seem to be a reflection on the singer's past experiences, particularly those involving drugs, fame, and reckless behavior. The first stanza appears to describe a turning point in the singer's life, where they have moved past their previous lifestyle of indulgence and excess. They now seem to have a sense of calm and acceptance with their new level-headedness ("we're okay, we're alright"), and have let go of the need to constantly "wind [themselves] up tight."
The second stanza implies that the singer has had some negative experiences as a result of their previous lifestyle, specifically with regards to money and addiction ("I've pissed my money all down the drain"). However, they seem to have come to terms with these problems, referring to them metaphorically as "pissing [their] demons" - an interesting contradiction, considering that pissing is often associated with a sense of release, whereas demons are typically seen as something that needs to be struggled against.
The repeated refrain of "What goes around comes around" drives home the idea that the singer is acknowledging the consequences of their past actions, both good and bad. The final line ("Well I got bad") seems to suggest that the singer is taking responsibility for their past mistakes, rather than shifting blame onto external factors.
Overall, "What Goes Around" seems to be a reflective and introspective song, with lyrics that confront the singer's past actions and choices.
