Freeway Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

They got me starin' at the world through my rearview
Go 'head, baby, scream to God
He can help you with your problems
Thug niggas wild when I come through
They can relate to my music
Help 'em with their problems (uh)
Turn this up, fucks ya problem?
This is real shit, homie
In the booth with the four-fifth on me
Only two clips, so the other clip don't get lonely
Sig-sauer on me, no shit, homie, know me? (Yeah)
Get in work for me, pumpin' nicks, homie (yeah)
I got the vocal chords, wanna hear some more? (Yeah, yeah)
How I ran a block, dropped and picked up broads
In a hooptie not a drop-top, got ya bitch aboard (yeah)
Switched that shit, from the block shit
To the wreck shit, then I got the click aboard (yeah)
Hatin' niggas get shot up in liquor stores
Beat, strapped and tied up with extension cords
Holla

Freeway's in full effect
And all I need is one reason just to pull this burner
'Cause, y'all told me to go next
And I'ma be goddamned if I'ma give my turn up (uh)
Freeway's in full effect
And all I need is one reason just to pull this ratchet out (yeah, uh, uh, Young Gunna)
Y'all told me to go next (Neef)
And I'ma be goddamned if I don't squeeze my cannon, holla

Yo, yo, yo, yo
Far as I'm hearin', y'all doin' a lot of comparin'
'Cause Young Neef's been on the block missin' a lot of appearance
Yeah, youngin' still got it in, one-twenty a gram
Now that have yo' smokers, and yo' fiends
Leanin' like a kick-stand
I send my brother for ya mother, man
For them blocks and 'em dead presidents wrapped in rubber-bands
Shotties will pistol-whips
That'll rip through shit
I hate a prick, I kill his bitch
And make 'em dig the dicks
Neef, keep somethin' on me, extended clip
'Cause I rather be judged by twelve then carried by six
And I can show you how to do this shit
Get ya straight and get ya cake right
Let us smoke and test ya weight
Before you take it to the plate
Rock it down, stuff the shit in five-eighths
Early and not late (uh)
Don't be makin' no mistakes
Put it out and then you bring it back straight
It's more money to make
Holla

Neef Bucks in full effect
And all I need is one reason just to pull this burner
'Cause, y'all told me to go next
And I'ma be goddamned if I'ma give my turn up (uh)
Neef Bucks in full effect
And all I need is one reason just to pull this ratchet out (yeah, uh, uh, uh)
Y'all told me to go next
And I'ma be goddamned if I don't squeeze my cannon, holla

Yo, ayo
Young Gunna, just another victim of the ghetto, nigga
Post and pivot and distribute the work
My Pop broke his pivot, got addicted to work
Man, they say it's a shame
But as they say it's the game
I made my way through the game
Rowdy lil' youngin', was the snotty nosed youngin'
E'rybody lil' youngin' (uh)
They only youngin' out huggin' that pavement for paper
They was shovelin' pavement for neighbors
I never made it to them five on five's (uh)
They was playin' live, I was tryna stay live
Tryna stay alive (stay alive)
Moms workin' 11:30 to curfew
I was tryin' to stay 'til five
Hopin' them quarters stay at five
while I'm killin' they can't stop me
before the day arrive I'll be coppin' again
So fuck a day job, while I'm dealin'
They ain't stoppin' me
Straight from the center to State Property (uh)

Young Chris in full effect
And all I need is one reason just to pull this burner
'Cause, y'all told me to go next
And I'ma be goddamned if I'ma give my turn up (uh)
Young Chris in full effect
And all I need is one reason just to pull this ratchet out

Y'all told me to go next
And I'ma be goddamned if I don't squeeze my cannon, holla

As a native philadelphian, who is 36 years old, hearing the roots and freeway in the movie hustle made me ecstatic. I am also a huge 76ers fan, so hearing doc rivers and adam sandler coming out to this song was legendary. What a great song and movie. My head was bobbin the whole time.

I never cared for freeway. But looking back he had a few bangers. And the while city of Philly behind him.

@kesselrunheroj8497

I am not from Philly, not a rap fan, not even a basketball fan really, but I agree that the scene when Doc and the coaches where walking out to this song was very special- there was a lot of good music in that movie, and the way the movie was shot and the music was woven in was crazy good. It was a great film.
