1. Leslie Edward Pridgen (born March 24, 1977), better known by his stage name Freeway, is an American rapper. Freeway a.k.a. Philly Freeway began rapping while in high school. He later met fellow rapper Beanie Sigel, who would be signed to Roc-A-Fella and later help Freeway get a contract with the record label. Freeway became one of the label's most visible artists after making his first appearance on The Dynasty: Roc La Familia in 2000 and appearing on several other Roc releases before putting out his solo album, Philadelphia Freeway.
The album was produced primarily by Roc-A-Fella-affiliated artists--Just Blaze, Bink!, Kanye West--and featured mostly Roc-A-Fella rappers as well, many of them from State Property: a Philadelphia-based bunch of Roc members that Freeway and Beanie Sigel had compiled into a group. The album's biggest hit was What We Do, produced by Just Blaze and featuring Jay-Z & Beanie Sigel.
After relations between Beanie Sigel and State Property soured, whether he and Freeway are still friends is unclear. Though Beanie had said he didn't know if he'd work with State Property again, he was present at Jay-Z's I Declare War concert alongside Freeway.

In the morning where I felt your shine
There fell two oceans from your eyes
That would drown me if I ever tried
To manifest the dream I had
And to take you away to a golden land
All I want is to hold your hand
And to trace your outline in the sand
Before you shut the door
So here's to hoping
I find my way
To encapsulate the waters blue
Oh the words would fill me through and through
But I never lost a word with you
Just like I always seem to do
And as I fell towards the sea
Through the canyons and the dancing trees
Every light you shine on me
Is burned into my memory
Leave the window open
Before you shut the door
So here's to hoping
I find my way
Up into the open sky
The clouds condense, intensify
And fall onto your silent skin
A place where I have never been
Oh if I could love you like they do
That would be too good to be true
'Cause everything I ever knew
It always circles back to you
Leave the window open
Before you shut the door
So here's to hoping
I find my way to you
Leave the window open
Before you shut the door
So here's to hoping
I find my way to you
The lyrics to Freeway's "One" are filled with emotions of longing and desire for someone special. The singer's heart is feeling vulnerable, and he is trying to express his feelings through the intricate metaphors in the song. He warns his own heart to be cautious, as he remembers the beautiful morning when his love shone bright like the sun. He recalls the moment when tears rolled down her eyes like two oceans that could overwhelm him if he dared to try and fulfill the dream he had for her.
The singer is struggling to contain his overwhelming desire to take the person he loves to a better place, a perfect "golden land." All he wants is to hold her hand, feel her outline and trace it in the sand, but he is conscious of the fact that he needs to keep his hopes in check. The window needs to stay open because he still hopes to find his way to her. As the singer falls into the sea, he sees every light that shines on him as burned into his memory. He wants to love the person he desires the way that the clouds do, but he acknowledges that it would be too good to be true.
The song speaks about the difficulties of expressing emotions and the struggles of finding the perfect moment to make a move. The singer acknowledges that everything he ever knew has always circled back to the person he loves, and he hopes to find his way to her.

Oh beware heart of mine
I need to be wary of my own heart
In the morning where I felt your shine
I remember how good it feels to love you
There fell two oceans from your eyes
You cried so much that it felt like two oceans fell from your eyes
That would drown me if I ever tried
Your tears will drown me if I try to fix what is causing them
To manifest the dream I had
To make my dream a reality
And to take you away to a golden land
To take you away to a perfect place
All I want is to hold your hand
All I want is to hold your hand and be with you
And to trace your outline in the sand
To trace your shape in the sand and remember it forever
Leave the window open
Keep the window open
Before you shut the door
Don't close the door yet
So here's to hoping
I hope
I find my way
I can find a way
To encapsulate the waters blue
To capture the beauty of the ocean
Oh the words would fill me through and through
I could write so much about it
But I never lost a word with you
I can't seem to find the right words to say to you
Just like I always seem to do
I always struggle to express myself
And as I fell towards the sea
As I am falling towards despair and sadness
Through the canyons and the dancing trees
Through the obstacles that life throws at me
Every light you shine on me
Every time you make me feel better
Is burned into my memory
I will always remember how you made me feel
Up into the open sky
To the limitless freedom of the sky
The clouds condense, intensify
The clouds represent my thoughts and feelings, becoming stronger
And fall onto your silent skin
And affect you, even if you don't show it
A place where I have never been
In a place I have never experienced
Oh if I could love you like they do
If only I could love you like others do
That would be too good to be true
It is impossible to love someone the same way as someone else
'Cause everything I ever knew
Because everything I ever learned or experienced
It always circles back to you
Always ends up being related to you
