História de un Amor

En el alma solo tengo soledad
Y si ya no puedo verte
Porque Dios me hizo quererte
Para hacerme sufrir más.
Siempre fuiste la razon de mi existir
Adorarte para mi fue religion
El calor que me brindaba
El amor, y la pasion.
Es la historia de un amor
Como no hay otro igual
Que me hizo comprender
Todo el bien, todo el mal.
Que le dio luz a mi vida
Apagandola despues
"Historia de un Amor" is a classic Spanish song originally written by Carlos Eleta Almarán in 1955, and has since been covered by numerous artists. The lyrics of the song tell the story of a love that has ended, leaving the singer feeling lonely and full of sadness. It is said that the inspiration behind the song was Eleta Almarán's own heartbreak.
The song begins with the singer stating that their heart is feeling alone after their loved one has left. They express their sentiments of sadness and convey that if they can no longer see their loved one, it is because of God's desire for them to suffer more. They continue to declare their love for their significant other, stating that they were the reason for their existence and that adoring them had been like a religion to them. They associate their loved one's kisses with warmth that brought love and passion.
The next verse continues with the singer describing their love for their significant other, likening it to a flame that does not burn and a dream that they dream without sleeping. They describe this love as being like a tree that stands tall with strength and tenderness. The remainder of the song repeats the chorus of how their love gave them light in their life but ultimately left them in darkness after it was gone.
