Ånnevik grew up in Ridabu, near Hamar, and was involved in music and theatre during her formative years. In the spring of 2009 she produced a demo with her own songs, and sent it to Grappa Music. This resulted in her receiving the fourth “New Artist Prize” from Grappa Music, following in the footsteps of Siri Nilsen, Gjermund Larsen and Valkyrien Allstars. The jury gave the following ground for awarding the prize to Ånnevik. Ånnevik’s first record, Synlige hjerteslag, was formed together with producer Andreas Mjøs (Jaga Jazzist, Adjagas, Susanna and the Magical Orchestra). It was voted the best Norwegian-language album of the year by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation’s programme “Norsk på Norsk” on the radio station P1, and was featured on lists of the year’s best albums by the TV show “Lydverket” and the newspaper Vårt Land, among others. She presented a very successful concert at the By:Larm festival in 2011, and was the opening act for the artist Odd Nordstoga in several of Norway’s largest cities. Her singles “Strået” and “Snubletråd” were in heavy rotation on the P1 radio programme in 2011. Ånnevik was nominated for a Spellemannspris, the Norwegian Grammy, both as newcomer of the year and in the folk category. She was also the first winner of the “Lyspunkt” award, which was newly established by the Norwegian Lyricist Fund for a first album, and received the Vidar Sandbeck Cultural Award, “Regnbågåbrua”.
In 2012 she received glowing reviews for a joint concert tour throughout south-eastern Norway together with the group Narum, among others, called “Trassviser og Tordenskrell”, a sort of Norwegian dialect version of the Rolling Thunder Revue of the 1970s. Later that year she participated in a project based on the works of poet Hans Børli together with the band “In the Country”, the duet “Akurat hær, akurat nå” together with the artist Ravi, and the song “Revevise” on a tribute album to Thorbjørn Egner, Vi har den ære. She collaborated with Andreas Mjøs on the song “Magefølelsen” for the documentary Beretninger om begynnelser, which was aired on TV2 in the spring of 2012.
Frida Ånnevik’s second album, "Ville Ord", was released in September 2013.

Det jeg vil ha
Frida Ånnevik Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hvis du legger sammen to og to,
The song "Det jeg vil ha" by Frida Ånnevik is a ballad about a relationship where one partner is hesitant about taking it to the next level, and the other partner is willing to give everything they have to make it work. The lyrics express the desire to receive commitment and love in return. However, there seems to be some confusion and uncertainty about the true feelings of the other partner, which creates an emotional tension in the song. The lyrics touch on the vulnerability and fear that comes with opening up and giving everything we have in a relationship, without knowing if the other person feels the same way or is ready for it.
The opening lines of the song, "Jeg, jeg gir deg alt jeg har, alt som hjertet bar, vil jeg gi det," mean "I, I give you everything I have, everything that my heart carries, I want to give it to you." The lyrics emphasize the intensity and depth of the emotions that the singer is experiencing. The lines that follow, "og det jeg vil ha fra deg, du må love meg, å bli med," express the desire for a commitment from the other person.
The chorus of the song repeats the same lines, "Jeg, jeg gir deg alt jeg har, alt som hjertet bar, vil jeg gi det, og det jeg vil ha fra deg, du må love meg, å bli med." The repetition creates a powerful effect, emphasizing the strength of the singer's desire to give everything and receive love in return.
Overall, the lyrics of "Det jeg vil ha" express the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with falling in love and wanting commitment. The song is a poignant reminder of the vulnerability and risk that is at the heart of any relationship.

Jeg, jeg gir deg alt jeg har,
I am willing to give you everything I have
Everything that my heart holds, I am willing to give to you
og det jeg vil ha fra deg
But what I want in return from you is
du må love meg, å bli med.
Your promise to love me and stay with me.
Da vi snakka sammen sist
When we spoke the last time
I said that we shouldn't be anything more than what we already are
men nå går vi rundt i ring,
But now it feels like we're going around in circles
alt er som før, og vi har sett det vi ser.
Everything looks the same as before, and we have seen what we're looking at.
But are you in love with me?
for jeg trudde aldri det skulle skje?
Because I never expected it to happen.
Så nå må du stoppe opp litt,
So now you need to take a moment and reflect
Because what you're bringing to this situation is too much.
For det du ser i det du faller
What you discover when you fall
må til om du skal forstå
Is necessary for you to understand
Hvis du legger sammen to og to,
If you add two and two together
da ser du hva vi er svaret på?
Then you'll see what the answer is.
Om du ikke får det til å gå opp
If you can't make it work
syns jeg ærlig talt du skal gå.
I think you should honestly just leave.
Jeg vet at du vil si de orda,
I know that you want to say those words.
men la det være som det er.
But let it be what it is.
