Ånnevik grew up in Ridabu, near Hamar, and was involved in music and theatre during her formative years. In the spring of 2009 she produced a demo with her own songs, and sent it to Grappa Music. This resulted in her receiving the fourth “New Artist Prize” from Grappa Music, following in the footsteps of Siri Nilsen, Gjermund Larsen and Valkyrien Allstars. The jury gave the following ground for awarding the prize to Ånnevik. Ånnevik’s first record, Synlige hjerteslag, was formed together with producer Andreas Mjøs (Jaga Jazzist, Adjagas, Susanna and the Magical Orchestra). It was voted the best Norwegian-language album of the year by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation’s programme “Norsk på Norsk” on the radio station P1, and was featured on lists of the year’s best albums by the TV show “Lydverket” and the newspaper Vårt Land, among others. She presented a very successful concert at the By:Larm festival in 2011, and was the opening act for the artist Odd Nordstoga in several of Norway’s largest cities. Her singles “Strået” and “Snubletråd” were in heavy rotation on the P1 radio programme in 2011. Ånnevik was nominated for a Spellemannspris, the Norwegian Grammy, both as newcomer of the year and in the folk category. She was also the first winner of the “Lyspunkt” award, which was newly established by the Norwegian Lyricist Fund for a first album, and received the Vidar Sandbeck Cultural Award, “Regnbågåbrua”.
In 2012 she received glowing reviews for a joint concert tour throughout south-eastern Norway together with the group Narum, among others, called “Trassviser og Tordenskrell”, a sort of Norwegian dialect version of the Rolling Thunder Revue of the 1970s. Later that year she participated in a project based on the works of poet Hans Børli together with the band “In the Country”, the duet “Akurat hær, akurat nå” together with the artist Ravi, and the song “Revevise” on a tribute album to Thorbjørn Egner, Vi har den ære. She collaborated with Andreas Mjøs on the song “Magefølelsen” for the documentary Beretninger om begynnelser, which was aired on TV2 in the spring of 2012.
Frida Ånnevik’s second album, "Ville Ord", was released in September 2013.

Du må tru på vår
Frida Ånnevik Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
i sinnet ditt,
skal våren farge alt
som nå er kaldt og kvitt.
ligger et lite frø
og holder tanken stø,
for du må tru på vår.
Ei bjørk kan kjenne vinteren
som litt tom og rar,
men knopper springer ut
når mørketida drar.
De frosne fjella som
april skal smelte om
er stemmer i en flom,
for du må tru på vår!
Stol på at kjærligheten
finner fram til deg,
som spirer våkner
bare sola viser seg.
Slik snø skal komme og gå,
i glimt kan vi forstå,
og si med sikkerhet
alt det vi ikke vet.
Så tru på vår og kjærlighet.
The lyrics of Frida Ånnevik's "Du må tru på vår" speak to the human struggle with loneliness and the hope for springtime and new beginnings. The opening line, "Om ensomheten fryser fast i sinnet ditt," translates to "If loneliness freezes in your mind." This sets the tone for the rest of the song, which urges the listener to believe in the arrival of spring and the promise of change that it brings. The imagery of snow and frost melting away and making room for new life is a powerful metaphor for internal growth and transformation.
The second verse speaks to the idea that even the trees understand the cycles of seasons and how they influence growth. The use of the word "knopper" (meaning buds) indicates the anticipation and excitement that come with new growth in the spring. The third verse encourages the listener to trust in love and its ability to find its way to them. The line "som spirer våkner bare sola viser seg" translates to "that which sprouts only wakes when the sun appears," indicating that love needs a nurturing environment in order to grow. The final verse speaks to the inevitability of change and encourages the listener to embrace the unknown and find comfort in the hope of new beginnings.
Overall, the song is a reminder that life is cyclical and that difficult times will eventually give way to brighter moments. By trusting in the natural rhythms of nature and our own internal cycles, we can find hope and optimism even in the darkest of times.

som litt tom og rar,
A birch tree can feel the winter as a bit empty and strange,

De frosne fjella som
april skal smelte om
er stemmer i en flom,
The frozen peaks that April will melt are voices in a flood,
for du må tru på vår!
so you must believe in spring!
Stol på at kjærligheten
finner fram til deg,
Trust that love will find its way to you,
som spirer våkner
bare sola viser seg.
just like a bud awakens when the sun appears.
Slik snø skal komme og gå,
i glimt kan vi forstå,

Just as snow comes and goes, in brief flashes, we can understand and confidently say all that we don't know.
Så tru på vår og kjærlighet.
So believe in spring and love.
