Fritz Kalkbrenner Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So the sea has gone to take me
Maybe now I'd fell it fall
I tell myself I won't get astray
I believe it's going be hard
So I look across the mane
To a point far out of sight
Over me comes the rain
And I be gone
But then a night

I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways to go
I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways back home

I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways to go
I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways back home

I ain't afraid of leaving
And all those things I left behind
Most of them ain't meant to last
None of them ain't even mine
Too tired of marking time
Giving too much away
Not a single dime is left
So I'm calling better days

I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways to go
I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways back home

I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways to go
I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways back home

I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways to go
I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways back home

I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways to go

I'm looking for ways over water
I'm looking for ways back home

Overall Meaning

In Fritz Kalkbrenner's song "Back Home", he sings about his search for meaning and purpose in life. The lyrics suggest that he is feeling lost and disconnected from himself, and is looking for a way to return to a place of comfort and familiarity. Throughout the song, he uses water as a metaphor for life's journey, and suggests that he is struggling to find his way back to a sense of belonging and security.

The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, as Kalkbrenner sings about the sea taking him away. He suggests that this may be a good thing, but at the same time acknowledges that it will be hard. He looks out over the water and watches as the rain falls, suggesting that he is at a low point in his life. The chorus then repeats the phrase "I'm looking for ways over water, I'm looking for ways to go, I'm looking for ways over water, I'm looking for ways back home", emphasizing his yearning for a sense of direction and purpose.

In the second verse, Kalkbrenner talks about his willingness to let go of the past and move on. He acknowledges that many things in his life were not meant to last, and that he is tired of holding on to them. He calls for "better days", suggesting that he is hopeful for the future. The chorus then repeats again, emphasizing his search for a way back home.

Overall, the song is a poignant reflection on the struggles of finding meaning and purpose in life, and the difficulties of feeling lost and disconnected. Kalkbrenner's use of water as a metaphor for life's journey adds depth and meaning to the lyrics, and the repetition of the chorus emphasizes the urgency of his search for a way back home.

this song promts you to think about your life.
this is one of the hardest things
because it can hurt so much when you realize,
that you are not happy with your choosen way.
but if you decide to accept this hurdle
you can experience real greatness.

when you try to go back to your destination
there will be hard times
there will be people who want to stop you
but be sure:
you can do everything you want to do,
you must believe in you.

i wish for everyone that he finds his "ways back home". The place from where you can become and do for what you on this earth.

thank you for this song Fritz, it brought tears to my eyes <3

The song is just pure nostalgia...I remember in 2014 when I spontaneously flew to Spain in the summer with some friends, and we just had fun there. Or when we were just on the beach in the evening and the sun went down, it was just great with this song. I have a lot of great memories with this song. Thank you, Fritz :)

This song opened something hidden in my mind. Something I didn't realize sooner. I don't feel home in city I was born or in flat I have lived 20 years. I feel home in nature. On my trips with bicycle, alone and depending mostly on myself.

Sickman GR

You got the point, happy for you!!! Keep going!
