Frizzle Sizzle was born.
They had some gigs, but were still waiting for their big breakthrough. That came when they won the Dutch national final to qualify for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986. Their catchy tune "Alles Heeft Een Ritme" (="Everything Has Rhythm") was performed bare feet. They finished in 13th place out of 20. The song is still very popular as almost everyone in Holland knows it but it wasn't a big hit. Most people relate to them as "the barefoot girls from the Eurovision Song Contest"...
They went on to produce an English album, "First Date". Several singles were taken from it: "Second Chance", "Never Give Up", "Look At The Stars" and "Talk It Over". As it was a relative success in The Netherlands, it was also released in Japan. There the girls were as popular as the Dolly Dots were a few years before. Back in Holland they were compared to the Dolly Dots as well, as they were all good looking girls and made the same kind of music. Frizzle Sizzle even had the same producers work on "First Date" as the Dolly Dots did in their seventh album, "Attention": Jochem Fluitsma and Eric van Tijn.
Although a new single, "Around and Around" (for which Dolly Dots' Patty Zomer did styling on the sleeve), was released, a new album was never recorded.
The girls decided to each go their own way:
Laura Vlasblom did lots of theatre work, sang Ariel in the Dutch version of Disney's Little Mermaid, married and divorced Caught In The Act's Bastiaan Ragas.
Karin Vlasblom said goodbye to showbiz, as opposed to her sister, and opened a clothing boutique.
Marjon Keller eventually became a voice over for the Dutch RTL television station. Most people might know her voice, but are not aware who she is.
Mandy Huydts went on to record a Dutch solo album, simply titled "Mandy Huydts". Although "De Zon (Warme Stralen)" (="The Sun") was kind of successful, the album wasn't. She has recorded two albums in total and a single with Justin, which was ever featured on an album. But she is also one of the Frogettes, the backing vocalists for René Froger (a top artist in the Netherlands).
During the big eighties revival at the turn of this century all four girls got together again to perform one more time...
In 2005 Laura was part of the cast of Song Contest in Concert. During Tony Neef's Dana International act she came on stage in her original Frizzle Sizzle Song Contest outfit and interrupted him. That was the only reference to the song, except for the final night in Utrecht. At the after party she danced to the song twice, as there hard-core fans who did the original dance with her and Birgit Neyman.
