In 1999, the band independently released their self titled EP (referred to as "The Green Album"). At this time, they were also opening for bands such as Amen, Disturbed, Nickelback and Nothingface.
They later signed with Arista Records, where they released two major label albums in One Nation Under (which features many re-recorded songs from their self titled album) (2001) and My So-Called Life (2003). They had two music videos which are for their songs "Check Ya" and "Smack", both of which can be viewed over on You Tube. Before the recording of My So-Called Life, bassist Rob Ruccia left the band to do production work on other bands, leaving vocalist Jett to record the bass for the album. They later recruited Avi Kopernik to play bass for the group's live shows.
After being dropped by Arista less than a month after the release of My So-Called Life, they went to work preparing for their third album. As time went on, writing music became a chore and Jett with nothing to fall back on, needed to concentrate on a day job to support his family. Joe Pettinato, who already had a construction business, then left the band, and the rest of the group called it quits in 2005. Two songs from the intended album, "Middle of the Road" and "My Own Destiny", can still be streamed on their official PureVolume page.
Although they have not gained widespread popularity within the music community as a whole, they are well recognized both in the Chicago area and among nu metal fans.
Drama Queen
From Zero Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's all the same
It's a matter of taste
You'll try someday to be with the nation
Of all the rock stars in my mind
I never thought
You Battle tech
I'm ready to bleed from my veins now
You keep on telling yourself
The realizations of all the ways
You learned to hate
You're coming far
You're gonna break
Gonna set the record straight
So concentrate
[Chorus]
I've got my mind made up this time
I've given all that wasn't mine
I gave the shirt that's on my back
And I give and I give and I get none
Now you're on to something better
I bet you want your money back
Oh, that's a serious breakdown
Come on, bitch
Give us all your best shot
Do yourself a favor
Don't hold back
And release the frustration
I'm not surprised
You've lost your mind
I see we arrived at about the same time
That's some serious patience
And I just can't
What, you want your feelings back?
I'll just say
Your unjust contrast
Is the same as a slap in the face
[Chorus:Repeat x2]
I've got my mind made up this time
I fall
You place your faith in something fake
And now you bleed attention
[Chorus:Repeat x2]
The lyrics to From Zero's "Drama Queen" speak to the frustration of feeling like you're giving everything you have and getting nothing in return. The first verse discusses the idea of trying to be a part of the "nation" of rock stars, but realizing that it's all just a matter of taste and that everyone is ultimately the same. The line "You Battle tech" could be a reference to the video game series, or it could be an allusion to some kind of battle or struggle that the singer is ready to engage in.
The second verse is directed at someone who has moved on to something "better" and left the singer behind. The chorus is a declaration of the singer's mindset - they've given everything they had and now they've made up their mind to focus on themselves. The bridge, with the line "I fall/You place your faith in something fake," seems to suggest that the other person was misled or misguided in some way, and that the singer is frustrated with how easily their attention was taken.
The overall theme of the song seems to be about standing up for yourself and refusing to be taken advantage of. It's about recognizing that you deserve better, and that you're not going to settle for less. It's a powerful message, and one that is delivered with a great deal of energy and passion through From Zero's music.
