Won't Back Down
Fuel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yeah
I know what darkness means (and the point to run from me)
The isolation stings (so thick it wants to bleed)
The echoes in my brain (all the things you said to me)
You took my everything (now I'm coming for you)

I won't back down
I will not bow
(I've come to bring you hell)
And I can't forget
The things you did
(I've come to bring you hell)

The shadows that you see (in the places that you sleep)
Are memories of me (you better pray your soul too keep)
The truth behind your eyes (you know the things you never see)
Your darkest little lies (I'm coming for you)

I won't back down
I will not bow
(I've come to bring you hell)
And I can't forget
The things you did
(I've come to bring you hell)

Of all the scars that never heal
Of all the wounds that will not seal
I will not forget the day
These memories never fall, yeah

I won't back down
I will not bow
(I've come to bring you hell)
And I can't forget
The things you did
(I've come to bring you hell)

I've come to bring you hell (I've come to bring you hell)
I've come to bring you hell (I've come to bring you hell)

I've come to bring you hell (I've come to bring you hell)
I've come to bring you hell (I've come to bring you hell)

Fuel's song Won't Back Down is an emotional and powerful track that delves into themes of betrayal, determination, and revenge. The opening lines of the song immediately set a tone of darkness and isolation, as the singer suggests that he understands the feeling all too well. He references how someone has taken everything from him and left him with nothing but echoes in his brain. The use of the second person "you" throughout the song makes it clear that the singer is addressing someone specific - likely someone who has wronged him in a significant way.

As the song progresses, the singer's anger and desire for revenge become more evident. He tells the subject that he won't back down or bow to them; instead, he's come to bring them hell. The imagery throughout the song is dark and foreboding, with references to shadows and the subject's darkest little lies. The lines "the things you did, I've come to bring you hell" suggest that the subject has done something unforgivable, and the singer is determined to make them pay.

Years ago, me and my friend met y'all.

It was at the Tempe Marketplace in Tempe, AZ.

Remember that?

Ha, ha, ha, ha!

My friend was there with a handicapped woman in a wheelchair.

She was special needs.

The way you and Phil engaged her melted my heart.

She was so shy/scared!

You two got to her level and made her comfortable.

I will never forget that!

God bless you guys for that!

Thanks to y'all, she got to have her moment to shine.

For a brief moment, she was in the spotlight.

To this day, she still has the guitar pick and set sheet you and Phil gave her.

God bless you, my friends!

Keep staying awesome!

Much love from Arizona!

I don't care what people say about this movie. I have a soft spot for it. The soundtrack has a lot to with that. This movie perfectly represents the golden age of post-grunge rock. We don't get music like this anymore.

@ChristianFrates1997

The directors cut is better.

@TheSkinsFactoryInc
