Fugitive
Fugitive Dancer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I' ve been sitting here for many days now
They' ve been looking for me for many days too
From where I' m sitting
I can see their angry faces
It' s only a matter of time
They' ll be on to me
The sirens, helicopters and tings
The bloodhounds are on my tail, Oh God
Just in minutes
They' ll be tearing me apart
If I don' t do now
What I' ve been doing all my life
I' ll be running... all my life

I' m the running man
The fugitive

Seeking political asylum is not easy down here/FONT
My father had friends in high places
And in low places too
Everytime we asked him to stop running
We would say
"Leave all to me, I' ll make it right"
Today he' s gone, I' m still running
Coyotes and vultures closing in on me
I take it a warning
I' ll be running

I' ll be running
'Cause I can

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Fugitive" by Fugitive Dancer depict a person who is on the run and is being pursued by law enforcement officials. The singer has been in hiding for many days, and the authorities have been trying to track him down. From his hiding place, he can see the angry faces of the police and feel their presence closing in on him. The sound of the sirens, helicopters, and other warning bells only add to his fears. He knows that it is only a matter of time before they catch him, and he feels helpless and desperate.

The singer's father was also a fugitive, and he had connections in both high and low places. He had always promised to make things right and protect his family, but he eventually passed away, leaving his son alone to face the same fate. The singer sees the vultures and coyotes closing in on him as a sign that he needs to keep running. He has resigned himself to a life on the run and most likely, seeking refuge and asylum in another country is the only option left for him.

Overall, the lyrics of "Fugitive" are a poignant reflection of the difficulties that many people face when seeking refuge from injustice or persecution. The song's mood is both somber and intense, and it effectively captures the emotions of a person who is on the run and living in constant fear.

Great song! Also really like the video, which underlines the mood of the song! I want to hear more :)

I listened to a few people talking about this band as a „pop band“, others named them an „Indie band“, but I think they're both and a lot more beyond these categories. They have smooth, laidback, introvert moments – even a bit jazzy now and then – but also outbursting elements, extrovert and exploding. Andy Warhol said, there are 15 minutes of fame for everyone, Fugitive Dancer deserve a lot more than that, even if fame in their case might mean, that more and more people make them the soundtrack of their lives and pay for it with love.

Way to go, guys! Keep on doing it this way and you won'f fall apart in the storm!
