Kiss and Makeup
Funeral for a Friend Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No matter where you go
They'll fucking tie you down
And bleed you from your wrists
(Bleed you from your wrists)

Well, it?s better that we leave
Leave it this way
(Leave it this way)

And just to soften the blow
I?ll steal all of your kisses
(Your kisses)
And sew them up
In the creases of our hearts

No matter where you go
They'll fucking tie you down
And bleed you from your wrists
(Bleed you from your wrists)

Well, it?s better that we leave
Leave it this way
(Leave it this way)

And just to soften the blow
I?ll steal all of your kisses
(Your kisses)
And sew them up
In the creases of our hearts

And just to soften the blow
I?ll steal all of your kisses
(Your kisses)
And sew them up
In the creases of our

Hearts, hearts
I never really loved you anyway
Hearts, hearts
I never really loved you anyway

Hearts, hearts
I never really loved you anyway
Hearts, hearts
I never really loved you anyway

And I'm the one thing you betted on
Don't ever let them take you down

Oh, I'm the one thing you betted on
Don't ever let them take you down

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Funeral for a Friend's "Kiss And Make Up" explore themes of heartbreak, betrayal, and the struggle to move on from a past relationship. The opening lines "No matter where you go, they'll fucking tie you down and bleed you from your wrists" suggest a feeling of being trapped and unable to escape the pain of the past. The repetition of this line throughout the song reinforces the idea that the singer is unable to let go of their hurt.

The chorus, "Hearts, hearts, I never really loved you anyway" further emphasizes the idea of betrayal and the singer questioning whether their former lover's feelings were ever genuine. The line "And just to soften the blow, I'll steal all of your kisses and sew them up in the creases of our hearts" carries a bittersweet sentiment, alluding to the idea that while the relationship has ended, the memories and moments shared will remain with them forever.

Overall, the lyrics to "Kiss And Make Up" convey a sense of longing and sadness for what was lost, but also a determination to move forward and not let the past define them.

I've been relistening to all the mid-2000s emo bands, and I honestly think that FFAF is the only one that aged well. In fact I've been playing Casually Dressed and Hours in a loop for the past 2 weeks. These guys have all the good riffs and none of the obnoxiousness of the genre.

@onemorechris

they were good in 2002 live too

what do you think of Welcome Home Armageddon, their 2011 album? to me, it's in the same level as their first two albums

I first heard this song when I was 17, senior in high school. Since then I have stopped listening to most of the music i listened to when I was that young, except funeral for a friend, and especially this song. I am now 23 years old and a senior in college. Thier music, even in its earliest stages still has me by the balls.
