For the Love of Money
Funk Lyrics

Ah!
Woo!
Ready for some love?
You ready?
I’m ready!
Ready for what?
Hot music all around
Waves of light and sound
Could I be found in this endless desert?
You stared right into me
Couldn’t move my feet
But when you looked away
I knew I’ve found a treasure (Shine!)
This mountain is so high
My heart is open wide
I’m falling in too deep for you baby (Come on!)
I’m ready for (That’s right)
I’m ready for
I’m ready for
La la la la love
(Here we go again)
I’m ready for
I’m ready for
I’m ready for
La la la la love
We danced the night and played
Wasn’t so afraid
The stars were laughing when I said I know you from somewhere
But then you disappeared like that gust of desert wind
My soul still wears you like a shiny bling
This mountain is so high
My heart is open wide
I’m falling in too deep for you baby (Baby)
I’m drowning in your eyes (Your eyes)
I put the past behind (Behind)
I’ll be your man and you can be my lady (Come on!)
I’m ready for
I’m ready for
I’m ready for
La la la la love
(Here we go again)
I’m ready for
I’m ready for
I’m ready for
La la la la love
Bring back the vibe!
Crank it up!
You ready?
I’m ready!
Ready for what?
Some love
I’m ready for love
Yes I’m ready
I’m ready for love
(You and me on the floor tonight)
I’m ready for love
Yes I’m ready
I’m ready for love
(Here we go again)
I’m ready for
I’m ready for
(I’m ready for love)
I’m ready for
La la la la love
(Bring back the vibe!)
I’m ready for (For love)
I’m ready for
I’m ready for
La la la la love

50 years later, and I still sing this song (at the top of my lungs) in my car.
In the 70’s people would laugh and point at me dancing at the stoplights.
It didn’t dissuade me. I’m 67 now, and I still groove to this song.
The only difference now is that I don’t even notice if somebody points me out.
Those 16th note bass notes. The riffs… the timeless message in those lyrics!
My life; my groove! ❤

"Save your soul, save your soul...DON'T SELL IT...for that MEAN MEAN MEAN MEAN Green." No straighter Preachin' than that single dope line. Accompanied by that pure trumpet is pure CHURCH.

And we best not forget to put some respect on the name of that Wurlitzer electric piano.
@Ronald-hx6zn
Yes the trumpet was special.

I had the O'Jays on the airplane when I was a flight attendant back in early 1980's. They were some of the nicest passengers I ever had - very polite, humble, didn't ask for any special treatment or make a big deal out of who they were. They are still one of my favorite groups.

Thanks for sharing that !
That’s so good to hear.

I was fortunate enough to have met these guys back in the late 80's . I was working at a 76 Truck stop when their tour bus rolled in . Not only are they a talented group of artists , but very down to earth gentlemen .They were very tired , but took the time to shake hands and sign autographs .
@davidedwards7746
That's not a surprise, and it's great to hear.
