Funkstar was first exposed to Marley's music as a teenage keyboardist in an amateur reggae band. "Sun is Shining" was a worldwide hit reaching the Top 20 in nine countries including No.3 in the UK singles chart. It was also awarded best-selling international reggae single of the year at the World Music Awards.
Longtime Marley manager Chris Blackwell hurried to release his own remixes, but Funkstar had already moved on and had another hit with a remix of Marley's "Rainbow Country." He has since recorded other remixes for artists including Tom Jones, Mary J. Blige, Grace Jones, and Barry White, the most notable of which appeared on 'Keep on Movin: It's Too Funky in Here'. In 2003, Funkstar released an album of his own material, 'Funkturistic'.
Dubbed 'The Danish King Of The Remix' by Allmusic.com, after two sabbaticals away from the music industry during the 2000s, Funkstar recently returned to the scene charting with a remix of Kim Wilde's 'You Keep Me Hanging On' in 2013. In 2014 his long-time label Lifted House released a rework of his Marley hit 'Sun Is Shining - 15th Anniversary' which reached No.1 on the British Dance Chart.
Currently[when?] he is working on his EP from which the opening single 'Million Miles' featuring Michael Jackson collaborator Geoffrey Williams has been taken. The single has to date reached No.8 on the British Dance Chart and has spent ten weeks in the UK Dance Top 20.

Make you want to move your dancing feet
When the morning gathers the rainbow
Want you to know I'm a rainbow too
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know now, can you understand?
Make you want to move your dancing feet
When the morning gathers the rainbow
Want you to know I'm a rainbow too
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know now, can you understand?
Do you believe?
Do you believe?
Do you believe?
Do you believe?
Do you believe? (I'm a rainbow too)
I'm a rainbow too
I'm a rainbow too
I'm a rainbow too
I'm a rainbow too
I'm a rainbow too
I'm a rainbow too
I'm a rainbow too
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know just if you can
Here I stand
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know now, can you understand?
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know now, can you understand?
The lyrics to "Sun Is Shining" by Funkstar de Luxe feat. Bob Marley evoke a sense of joyful celebration amidst the wonders of nature. The opening lyrics set the tone of the song, with the sun shining and the weather being sweet, encouraging listeners to move their feet and dance. The mention of the rainbow in the morning suggests a renewal and hope for a better day. Bob Marley likens himself to a rainbow, suggesting that he is also a symbol of hope and positivity.
The lyrics of the song take on a somewhat spiritual tone as Marley sings "To the rescue, here I am/Want you to know now, can you understand?" This line suggests that he is here to help and guide his listeners, as if he is a spiritual guide for those who are lost or struggling. The repetition of the line "Do you believe?" also touches on spirituality and faith, asking listeners if they believe in the message that Marley is conveying through the song.
Overall, "Sun Is Shining" is a song that celebrates both the natural world and the power of human connection and spirituality. It encourages listeners to find joy and hope even in difficult times, and to trust in their own inner guidance.
