During its existence, FSF gave more than a thousand performances. The individual band members proceeded to new jobs. There would be no new album project, but a compilation entitled Hope This Finds You Well was released by Tooth & Nail Records in April 2006. The band also indicated there would be a DVD release of videos and live performance scenes entitled "The Final Curtain". As of late 2010, it was announced the reunion of the band alongside the original singer, Chris Carrabba. Their fourth studio album, Penny Black, was released in 2012.
The name "Further Seems Forever" reflects the band's feelings, being constantly away from family and loved ones while on tour.
The Band Reunited and has planned a tour for 2011
I am
Further Seems Forever Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I am the blank wave, I am the madness, the dark, the hunt, the cage, the race
I am rejection, I am redemption
I am desire for obligation, I am forever, but I could be never if that's what you want.
I am the desert, I am oasis for strength, the weakness for arguments sake
I am rejection, I am redemption, I am desire for obligation, I am one step closer for you
Please tell me when you're through, because I may not be through with you
You're loss to sustain, but I will remain and true to form. If this was the last breath I ever took would you take the time
Or would you know?
Or would you know?
Because I am the water, I am waves crashing onto you
You could pretend to be, but you will kill me when you're through.
The song "I Am" by Further Seems Forever is a deeply introspective and metaphorical piece exploring the singer's identity and his relationship with someone he is close to. The central metaphor of the song is that the singer is like water or waves, crashing onto the other person's shore. He is a force to be reckoned with, powerful yet ever-changing and emotionally volatile. He is both the blank slate of a wave crashing onto the sand, but he is also the madness and darkness that lurks within that wave.
Throughout the song, the singer grapples with his own contradictions - rejecting and seeking redemption, desiring obligation and yet wanting to be free. He acknowledges that he is capable of being forever, but also recognizes that he could be never if that's what the other person ultimately wants. He also portrays himself as a desert - a place of both strength and weakness - as well as an oasis for others who may seek his counsel or support.
The final lines of the song suggest a lingering uncertainty about the singer's place in the other person's life. He acknowledges that he may never truly be "through" with them, even though they may want him to move on. He also suggests that his devotion to them is unwavering, but also asks whether they would notice or appreciate his loyalty if he were to suddenly disappear. Overall, the song is a powerful exploration of identity, relationships, and the complexities of human emotion.
