The band went through three different lead singers, Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional), Jason Gleason(Affinity, and later ActionReaction) and finally Jon Bunch (Sense Field). The final line-up:

In late 2005, FSF went on a long hiatus. And in January 2006, the band posted a message on their website announcing that their shows in early 2006 through the United States and Canada would be their last as a band. During its existence, FSF gave more than a thousand performances. The individual band members proceeded to new jobs. There would be no new album project, but a compilation entitled Hope This Finds You Well was released by Tooth & Nail Records in April 2006. The band also indicated there would be a DVD release of videos and live performance scenes entitled "The Final Curtain". As of late 2010, it was announced the reunion of the band alongside the original singer, Chris Carrabba. Their fourth studio album, Penny Black, was released in 2012.
The name "Further Seems Forever" reflects the band's feelings, being constantly away from family and loved ones while on tour.
The Band Reunited and has planned a tour for 2011

Further Seems Forever Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
From a paint build front porch
And it ran a chord in the cold wind
And those girls next door
Might've heard it before
If they did then it never was mentioned
And darling I'm trying to get back before it's too long
My eyes are opened up
So Janie I'm sorry but summer is over and done
Drag leaves burnt the colors have turned
The smoke from it turned as it floated
Over the roofs like string cut balloons
A drifting and autumn parade
Janie I'm sorry but summer is over
And darling I'm trying to get back before it's too long
My eyes are opened up
So Janie I'm sorry but summer is over and done
Have been too long to tell you
That I've gone too long without you
But summer's over
Over and done
Over and
Janie I'm sorry but summer is over
And darling I'm trying to get back before it's too long
My eyes are opened up
So Janie I'm sorry but summer is over and done
Summer is over and
Janie I'm sorry but summer is over and done
Over and done
The lyrics to Further Seems Forever's song "Janie" contain a nostalgic and melancholic tone that conveys the end of summer and the distance between two people. The first verse describes a sound heard from a paint build front porch, possibly the strumming of a guitar, which runs a chord in the cold wind. Despite the proximity of the girls next door, they may have never mentioned or acknowledged the sound. The second verse paints a picture of the changing seasons with leaves turning colors and smoke drifting over the roofs like string cut balloons in an autumn parade. The chorus repeats the sentiment that the summer is over, and the singer is trying to make their way back to Janie before it's too late. The final verse is an apology for having been away for too long and neglecting to express their feelings until now.
Overall, the lyrics seem to depict a sense of wistfulness and regret for the passage of time and lost opportunities. The imagery of autumn and the changing seasons serve as analogies for the inevitability of change and loss. The repetition of the phrase "Janie I'm sorry but the summer is over and done" emphasizes the finality of the situation and the singer's desire to reconcile with Janie before it's too late. The song's emotional resonance lies in its ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia and longing for past connections and experiences.
