In late 2005, FSF went on a long hiatus. And in January 2006, the band posted a message on their website announcing that their shows in early 2006 through the United States and Canada would be their last as a band. During its existence, FSF gave more than a thousand performances. The individual band members proceeded to new jobs. There would be no new album project, but a compilation entitled Hope This Finds You Well was released by Tooth & Nail Records in April 2006. The band also indicated there would be a DVD release of videos and live performance scenes entitled "The Final Curtain". As of late 2010, it was announced the reunion of the band alongside the original singer, Chris Carrabba. Their fourth studio album, Penny Black, was released in 2012.
The name "Further Seems Forever" reflects the band's feelings, being constantly away from family and loved ones while on tour.
The Band Reunited and has planned a tour for 2011
Lead The Way
Further Seems Forever Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Asking for your help
I'm not above asking
I know myself
For you to find a way
I'm not above trying to understand
I'm not above trying to take your hand
I'm not above trying to understand
I'm not above trying to take your hand
I'm not above (I'm not above)
You come closer to me
Breaking through to you
And closer, hiding all
You know me better than I do
It's better if you lead the way
You know me better than I do
It's better if you lead the way
You know me better than I do
It's better if you lead the way
You know me better than I do
It's better if you lead the way
The lyrics of "Lead The Way" by Further Seems Forever express a humble acknowledgement of one's own limitations and a request for help from someone who knows the singer better than he knows himself. The repetition of the phrase "I'm not above" is indicative of a tone of vulnerability and submission - the singer recognizes that he needs assistance and cannot achieve that understanding and connection on his own. The lyrics also suggest a deep trust and reliance on the other person, indicating that the singer is willing to follow and be guided by them.
The chorus, which states "You know me better than I do / It's better if you lead the way" is a powerful acknowledgment of the other person's ability to understand and guide the singer, implying a strong emotional connection and a sense of reliance. The overall message of the song seems to be about the importance of connection and trust in a relationship, as well as the recognition that we all need help and guidance at times, even if it means ceding control to someone else.
