In late 2005, FSF went on a long hiatus. During its existence, FSF gave more than a thousand performances. The individual band members proceeded to new jobs. There would be no new album project, but a compilation entitled Hope This Finds You Well was released by Tooth & Nail Records in April 2006. The band also indicated there would be a DVD release of videos and live performance scenes entitled "The Final Curtain". As of late 2010, it was announced the reunion of the band alongside the original singer, Chris Carrabba. Their fourth studio album, Penny Black, was released in 2012.
The name "Further Seems Forever" reflects the band's feelings, being constantly away from family and loved ones while on tour.
The Band Reunited and has planned a tour for 2011
Wearing Thin
Further Seems Forever Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And my guess is, you'll just ignore me.
Without a passing glance
Without the slightest sigh
Without moving your hands
Without the softest cry.
If I'd say
Make mistakes and I'll forgive you
Home is waiting here for you when you return.
Rain reveals the foundation
And this one's wearing thin
And shifting in the sand.
And the water does its damage
With its endless beating pulse
Heralding the end
Without a passing glance
Without the slightest sigh
Without moving your hands
Without the softest cry
If Id say
Go your own way, I'll be with you
Make mistakes and I'll forgive you
Home is waiting here for you when you return
This is the last time I will try to reach you
And my guess is that you'll just ignore it.
Just ignore me.
Go your own way, I'll be with you
Make mistakes and I'll forgive you
Home is waiting here for you when you return
The lyrics of Further Seems Forever's song "Wearing Thin" are an expression of a broken relationship that is hanging by a thread. The singer has tried to reach out to his/her partner for the last time, knowing that his/her efforts will not be reciprocated. The partner shows no reaction or emotion - not a passing glance, not the slightest sigh, not a movement of the hands, not the softest cry. The singer realizes that the foundation of their love, once rock solid like concrete, has been revealed to be wearing thin and shifting in the sand. The rain and the endless beating of water will do their damage and herald the end of their relationship.
Despite the imminent end, the singer still loves his/her partner and tries to make amends. The singer offers his/her partner support, forgiveness, and a home to return to. The partner is urged to go their own way, make mistakes as they will, and to know that they are loved and welcomed at home. However, the partner continues to ignore the singer's efforts, and the singer is resigned to the fact that this is the last time that he/she will try to reach out.
Overall, the lyrics of "Wearing Thin" reveal a sense of sadness, resignation, and love in the face of an impending breakup. The song illustrates the emotional turmoil that can arise when a once strong relationship starts to fray and unravel.
