And most lasted 60+ years, still in perfect condition, only knocked down to build higher density housing. A few are still in use today as they were heritage listed

i actually like this idea
we should bring these back as affordable housing for the homeless so they can get back on their feet and then move on to something else
and if they don't get back on their feet and return to self destructive behaviors they are a lost cause and go back on the streets again

Honestly with the housing crisis in Australia, we need them now. We already have tiny home communities built for homeless here

@@radicalpaddyono they weren’t. He said ten and none of these houses exist in England today. They clearly designed these as trailer homes sorta then built the British semi detached suburbs for permanent housing

@@LucasFernandez-fk8seshockingly, that’s incorrect. They were in use for a lot longer than ten years, there were significant numbers used up to the 80’s and 90’s, and there are still a handful where I live in the North of England. The last habitable one in town was sold last year for development but had been lived in by the original owner until their death. There are still two prefabs from that era in a local village nearby and they are still in use.

The old lady next door to me actually used to tell me about these homes and she said they were built for 10 years but they end up living in them for up to 30 years apparently they were very solid.

No they lasted over 60 years and because they were mainly housed by oldies AND SINGLE FLOOR, ALL with gardens and backyards, they were amongst the safest suburb you could find. They were knocked down for high density housing, that ACTUALLY sees a crime increase.

I love how angry the "housewives" bit would make some sensitive Sallies today. I'm all for women being able to have careers but it's still fun to see the wokes riled up.

The factories.... you were forced to work in SOME factory and it was often 12 hour days and transport was overcrowded as hell because of fuel rationing. At least that's how it was here in Australia. They used to have raids of movie theatres in the middle of the day to round up all the rich kid girls and force them into work.
