Personal Jesus
G&G Lyrics

Your own personal jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who cares
Your own personal jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who′s there
Feeling unknown
And you're all alone
Flesh and bone
By the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I′ll make you a believer
Take second best
Put me to the test
Things on your chest
You need to confess
I will deliver
You know I'm a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith
Reach out and touch faith
Your own personal jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who cares
Your own personal jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who's there
Reach out and touch faith
Feeling unknown
And you′re all alone
Flesh and bone
By the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I′ll make you a believer
I will deliver
You know I'm a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith
Your own personal jesus
Reach out and touch faith
The song "Personal Jesus" by G&G is a reinterpretation of the original song by Depeche Mode. The lyrics speak of an individual's personal struggle and the need for a source of comfort and acceptance. The use of religious imagery in the lyrics suggests that a personal Jesus can be someone who listens to your prayers, cares about you, and delivers you from your troubles.
The opening line, "Reach out and touch faith," invites the listener to seek out a personal Jesus, to take comfort in the idea that there is someone who is always there for them. The repetition of "someone to hear your prayers, someone who cares" emphasizes this point. The line "Feeling unknown and you're all alone" highlights the isolation that often accompanies personal struggles, and the need for someone to talk to. The use of "flesh and bone by the telephone" suggests a desire for human interaction but also the distance that technology creates.
The chorus, "Reach out and touch faith," is a clarion call to the listener to reach out and connect with something bigger than themselves, to find solace and comfort in their personal Jesus. The final line, "Your own personal Jesus, reach out and touch faith," reiterates the idea that each individual has their own unique source of comfort and hope.
