His affiliation came about when he met the GZA in the mid 90s while touring with his group Soul Kid Klik. Soon after he was introduced to the RZA. Clef formed Soul Kid Records in 1995 and things went from there.
After September of 2001 the live music scene in NY died down but he re-released his entire back catalogue through Soul Kid Records and still produces jazz records to this day. His hip hop accolades are more sought after however.
In 2005, he released "Tales from the Crypt" which featured guest appearances from a whole host of Wu-Tang Clan affiliates aswell as a remix of GZA's "Labels" and a remix of "The Night the Earth Cried", a track by the RZA's horrorcore group Gravediggaz. In 2009, he released his second album, "I Toured Wit Ya Grandfather", which was a more accomplished album and featured guest appearances from Wu-Tang rapper Cappadonna.
G-Clef has also released various instrumental mixtapes along with other CDs.

Down a few dark roads
Seasons changed and
I was gettin cold
I was feelin numb
My whole vibe was low
I hated myself
More than I could showI was ready to die
I was ready to go
I was embracing the pain
Even though it was killing my soul
Walking down halls of shame
I did it all on my own
The devil was having his way
Only I was to blame
I Made some really bad choices
I Listened to the wrong voices
But it was all a part of God's plan
Now I fully understand that I
I Never would've made it
So I say congratulations
Send up all my praises
Cuz God has been the greatest
Said I never never never never oh no
Said I never never never never oh no
I Never would've made it
So I say congratulations
God flipped the script
No longer gripped by sin
I made a change within
I tried to blend
I tried a friend
I tried the drinksI couldn't think
Was on the brink
Depression really put a hit on me
Honestly, I owe God an apology
Eh-Eh
Misery was my company
At the moment I am living more abundantly
Now I'm free I can breathe again
Tunnel vision I can see again
Had some issues rooted deep within
I thank God I got a second chance
I'm two steppin watch me do my dance
Watch me do it
Holy Ghost I feel him deep within
Thank you Jesus that I'm Free to live
Grace and Mercy always working for me
I Made some really bad choices
I Listened to the wrong voices
But it was all a part of God's plan
And now I fully understand that I
I Never would've made it
So I say congratulations
Send up all my praises
Cuz God has been the greatest
Said I never never never never oh no
Said I never never never never oh no
Never would've made it
So I say congratulations
Never would've made it
Without you
Never would've made it
Without you
I Never would've made it
So I say congratulations
Send up all my praises
Cuz God has been the greatest
Said I never never never never oh no
Said I never never never never oh no
Never would've made it
So I say congratulations
