His affiliation came about when he met the GZA in the mid 90s while touring with his group Soul Kid Klik. Soon after he was introduced to the RZA. Clef formed Soul Kid Records in 1995 and things went from there.
After September of 2001 the live music scene in NY died down but he re-released his entire back catalogue through Soul Kid Records and still produces jazz records to this day. His hip hop accolades are more sought after however.
In 2005, he released "Tales from the Crypt" which featured guest appearances from a whole host of Wu-Tang Clan affiliates aswell as a remix of GZA's "Labels" and a remix of "The Night the Earth Cried", a track by the RZA's horrorcore group Gravediggaz. In 2009, he released his second album, "I Toured Wit Ya Grandfather", which was a more accomplished album and featured guest appearances from Wu-Tang rapper Cappadonna.
G-Clef has also released various instrumental mixtapes along with other CDs.

¿Sabes cuánto me tomó?
a mi nadie me enseñó
si no hablas dinero
pues yo no te entiendo
y a veces si entiendo
pero es que no quiero
tus amigos no son mis amigos
me preguntas pero no te explico.
Muchas veces te lo he dicho
tu calor
mirar atrás.
In G-Clef da Mad Komposa's "XO Tour Llif3," the lyrics set a vibrant, urban scene that captures the essence of living in the moment, particularly in Mexico City. The artist begins by expressing a sense of eternal exuberance, stating that weekends feel irrelevant since he lives life in a perpetual state of early morning indulgence. This notion hints at a lifestyle fueled by an endless party atmosphere where he finds himself surrounded by friends (Lego and Xosa) and fans who resonate with his music. This camaraderie is essential to the narrative, and the shout-out to the ladies (“shawties”) listening to his voice echoes a recognition of those who support his journey. The line about feelings presents a paradox, suggesting that while he feels deeply, there's also an underlying sense of numbness or detachment, a duality that plays throughout the song.
The second verse delves into the artist's self-assertion and the struggles he has faced on his path. The phrase "¿Sabes cuánto me tomó? a mi nadie me enseñó" reflects a personal narrative of resilience, emphasizing that the artist has garnered knowledge and skills through his own experiences rather than relying on others. This speaks to the theme of empowerment, suggesting that success is hard-earned. The artist articulates a disconnect with superficial conversations that are not about money, indicating a prioritization of genuine connections over shallow friendships. His unwillingness to indulge in what doesn't matter reflects a maturity that comes with navigating life's complexities; he's selective with his relationships and has a clear understanding of his own worth.
The refrain echoes the sentiment established in the opening verses—an ongoing cycle of partying and camaraderie juxtaposed with deeper emotional currents. The repetition emphasizes the song's core theme of living for the moment, celebrating friendships while grappling with feelings of trust and vulnerability. The reference to ‘not going to parties unless it’s to give fire’ speaks to a duality of enjoying life while also holding back a part of himself. Here, “giving fire” can signify passion, excitement, or even the act of spicing up mundane moments. This pushes the narrative beyond mere celebration to a recognition of the complexities of social interactions, where pleasure may also bring potential heartbreak or erosion of trust.
In the concluding lines, introspection arrives with a notable shift in tone. The artist wrestles with the notion of isolation despite living in a deeply social world, indicating a struggle that many may relate to: feeling lost or disconnected even when surrounded by people. The decision not to look back hints at a proactive stance to move forward rather than dwell on past experiences, perhaps signaling the need for self-preservation and acceptance of one's journey. This line encapsulates the overall message of the song, merging themes of celebration with the weight of emotional experiences and self-reflection. It showcases G-Clef da Mad Komposa's ability to weave personal insight into a vibrant, dynamic lifestyle and highlights the intricate balance between joy and introspection that defines modern living.
