When Gillum was in the first grade, his mother left his father, an associate professor of art at CSU Fresno. Gillum moved in with his grandparents in Berkeley, California, where he attended Berkeley High School. They later moved to North Oakland, although Gillum continued to attend school in Berkeley. Gillum attended Loyola University New Orleans, where he graduated with a BA in music industry studies in 2011.
Starting out as a record producer, G-Eazy began working on singles while he was still a student at the Loyola University at New Orleans with his producer Christoph Andersson who also was a student there.[4][5] He gained some recognition for being a part of the new hip hop scene back in the East Bay Area, joining with such artists as Lil B, Crohn and The Cataracs.[6][7] He became a member of a local hip hop group called "The Bay Boyz", who had released several songs on their Myspace page.[8]
In 2008, he was performing at a college talent show and was nearly booed off, when Matt Bauerschmidt noticed him and signed him as a client to his new music management company The Revels Group which he started with Matt Davis.

Keep writing you
All this racing heart
Got you on my mind
Don't ever think I don't
I know what you like
And I'm the only one that ever should
Oh when I cross your mind
Make you want to hit it right
Right now, and don't even think about it
I could get you right now
And I'm the only one that ever could
I do but you sure don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't
Don't think I don't think about you oh oh
'Cause I do boy
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
'Cause I do, 'cause I do, boy
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
'Cause I do, boy don't
Last night I sent a message
Drunk when I sent it, pieces of a fragmented sentence
Essentially along the lines of saying I'm in town
And cross the line just saying if you're down
Let's chill and get a drink
I sip, hoping I would hear again
The text bubble popped up and dissapeared again
Like I don't want it getting weird again
And I don't wanna fight
And I don't want you shedding tears again
It's not a big deal, but don't think I don't think about you
Just 'cause I ain't spoken about you
I'd asked how you feel but already know I won't get it out you
You'll probably tell your friends that I wrote this about you
Whatever, I know I can be jealous and crazy
The voices in my head have liked to yell at me lately
I still can't believe what they've been telling me lately
Sometimes I wonder if you share my sentiments maybe
Let me know
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't
Don't think I don't think about you oh oh
'Cause I do boy
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
'Cause I do, 'cause I do, boy
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
'Cause I do, 'cause I do, boy
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't think I don't think about you oh oh
The song Think About You by G-Eazy feat. Quiñ is a reflection of a lover's musings about an ex-partner. The lyrics suggest that the singer still thinks about his ex-partner despite the relationship being over. He knows what his partner likes, but he is the only one who ever could get it right. The chorus reiterates that he still thinks about his ex-partner, even though they are apart, and he feels that his ex-partner does not reciprocate his feelings. The singer is uncertain about his ex-partner's feelings, and he wonders if she shares his sentiments. He sends a drunk message to his ex-partner asking to chill and get a drink. He is hoping to hear his ex-partner's response, but he gets a text bubble that disappears again.
The above lyrics depict a typical post-breakup scenario that many people experience. The singer is still in love with his ex-partner, but his ex-partner seems to have moved on. The song's title is Think About You, and the chorus echoes the idea that thinking about an ex-partner after a break-up is entirely normal. Sometimes people still think about their exes despite having new lovers. Some people have a difficult time letting go of past relationships, and the song shows the emotional struggle of moving on from a past love.
