G-Unit was founded shortly after 50 Cent left Columbia Records. The original members were: 50 Cent, Bang Em Smurf, Domination, Lloyd Banks, Sha Money XL & Tony Yayo. These rappers collectively established the group as a whole in 2000; however, after Yayo got a prison sentence 50 Cent signed Young Buck and along with himself and Banks became the three faces of G-Unit. Smurf and Domination left the group due to some problems with the General, 50 Cent.
After being shot, 50 Cent signed to Interscope Records. Due to the success of his commercial debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin', he was granted his own record label. This was when 50 and Sha Money XL founded G-Unit Records.
The group continued to work hard and released several mixtape series which earned them a lot of attention in the rap industry. The most prominent of these being 50 Cent Is the Future, God's Plan, No Mercy, No Fear and Automatic Gunfire. G-Unit have also started a mixtape series with their DJ, DJ Whoo Kid, called G-Unit Radio.
These mixtapes gave them a gigantic buzz throughout New York City, which eventually led to 50's first solo album Get Rich or Die Tryin' selling over 12 million copies.
Before the group had a chance to record its debut album, Tony Yayo was sentenced to prison for a gun-possession charge as well as bail-jumping. During Tony Yayo's prison sentence, the group signed Nashville rapper, Young Buck. They continued their activity, working on yet more mixtape recordings. In particular, their 'G-Unit Remix' to 50 Cent's "P.I.M.P." was successful.
During Tony Yayo's prison sentence, G-Unit recorded their debut album, Beg for Mercy. The album was quickly released on November 14, 2003 to combat bootlegging and had significant commercial success. Tony Yayo made only two appearances on the album, both on songs that were recorded before his arrest. The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts and sold over 4 million units.
50 Cent later went on to sign The Game, Mobb Deep, M.O.P., Olivia, Spider Loc andMase. The Game was asked to be put in the group by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. 50 Cent agreed, and gave 7 of his records which was supposed to go on his second LP The Massacre. After The Game went on the radio and said that he had no problems with some rappers 50 Cent had issues with, 50 felt that Game was disloyal and kicked him out of the group, which lead to the infamous G-Unit vs. The Game/Black Wallstreet meet and beat off.

(Call me) Why you naggin' me?
(Call me) Girl you houndin' me (yo why you houndin' me)
(Call me) Why you harassin' me?
I don't want alone time, I just wanna fuck
(Call me) Why you naggin' me?
(Call me) Girl you houndin' me
I don't want alone time, I just wanna fuck
[talking in background of chorus]
50 Cent, Yayo, featuring Hope, uh huh
As we proceed, uh
You didn't like the way I wore my hair (what up)
You didn't like the style a clothes I wear (uh huh)
You didn't like the little things I do
Just tryin to be close to you (c'mon, c'mon)
Look I done changed up bitch, I done came up
My neck, my wrist, my ears, my fists are all blinged up
In the hood they say 50 "you a grimy nigga"
With the rims in that Coupe stay shiny nigga (stay shiny nigga)
When you disrespect me is where I draw the line
You seen my artwork but you ain't seen me draw the nine
Come through the hood, you'll get shot homey just cause I say so
I'm the hottest shit on this street, I don't do J Lo (here we go)
[Chorus]
I remember when you was a little bum nigga (what up)
No champagne, just strictly rum nigga (uh huh)
No pies, no cake, couldn't get a crum nigga (crum nigga)
Fuck too fast, to quick to cum nigga
Now you wanna talk like you big shit
Like you found a better bitch, wit a ass this sick
You know you love this nigga, why is you frontin'?
Cause when you's fuckin' wit Hope, baby girl you just fuckin' (c'mon)
[Chorus]
Don't call me bitch, don't be naggin' me
Cause the police thinkin' 'bout baggin' me (baggin' me)
You wanna call me on my cell, but don't got money for bail
And you the main reason that I'm stuck in the jail
You showed 'em where the Mag at (uh huh), showed 'em where the stash at (uh huh)
Got a order of protection, no I'm doin five flat
In my heart I thought you was the one
"Til you dialed them three numbers 9 1 1 (BITCH)
[Chorus]
Call me
Call me
The lyrics of G-Unit's song "Call Me" features a conversation between a man and a woman. The man is being nagged by the woman for various reasons, like not liking his style of clothes or how he wears his hair. He tells her that he has changed and moved on by blinging up his neck, wrist, ears, and fists. He also warns her that disrespecting him will not be taken lightly and that he is the hottest shit on the street.
The chorus repeats three times, with the man asking the woman why she is harassing him and hounding him. He doesn't want alone time with her, but instead just wants to have sex. In the background of the chorus, 50 Cent, Yayo, and Hope can be heard talking, indicating that they are the ones singing the song.
The song seems to depict a toxic relationship where the man is frustrated and annoyed by the woman's behavior towards him. He is blunt about what he wants, which is just sex, and doesn't seem to care about the woman's feelings or desires. Additionally, he becomes angry and threatening towards her when she calls the police on him and gets him sent to jail.
Overall, the lyrics of "Call Me" paint a bleak picture of a dysfunctional relationship and highlight the bitterness and anger that arises when two people are incompatible with each other.
