Well Done
G.A. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

On that great day when he cracks the sky
When the world hears the trumpet sound And the dead begin to rise
I wonder how it would be
Will I be walking down the street
Will it happen right in the middle of the day
Or at night while I'm asleep

[Chorus]
All I know is I want to be ready
I want to be ready
And I want you to say well done
I just want you to say well done

I can already see the signs
Each day the world is getting worse
It seems the world itself is crying out
For someone to rescue her
The days are getting shorter
The years are passing by
It's like I see the Lord preparing Himself to come and get His bride

[Chorus]

Most of us have plans for this life
We have a blue print of our business and how we want our future to be
And it's good to have a vision and a plan for with out a vision the people perish so that's a great thing
But let's be mindful as we pursue our dreams
And as we pursue our goals
That at the end of all this
The reality is I'm living my whole life
Just to hear two words
And that's well done
Anybody with me
I'm living my whole life just to hear well done
That's all I wanna hear

(I wanna hear Enter)

Enter... into... My joy... servant... well done
Enter... into... My joy... servant... well done
Enter... into... My joy... servant... well done
Enter... into... My joy... servant... well done
[X2]

Well done
Well done

Faith-ful ser-vant, well done
[X2]

Overall Meaning

The song "Well Done" by G.A. is a reflection on the Christian perspective of the end times. The song starts by acknowledging the idea of the second coming of Christ and the sounding of the trumpet that will accompany it. The Christian eschatology suggests that, on that day, the dead shall rise, and the world shall be judged by Christ. The singer wonders how it would be when that day comes, where he would be, and what time it would be. The chorus emphasizes the desire of the singer to be prepared for that day and to hear the Lord say, "well done," indicating that he had lived his life in a way that was pleasing to the Lord. The second verse highlights the current state of the world and how it is disintegrating, and with each passing day, the need for Christ's return grows stronger. The singer seems to suggest that he does not want to focus on temporal things in life, such as business and goals, but would instead want to live his whole life to hear the Lord say, "well done" at the end.

The song's theme is deeply rooted in the concept of the Christian's reward in heaven. In Christianity, it is believed that after death, believers will be judged based on their works, and everyone will receive rewards according to their faithfulness. The "Well Done" refers to the parable of the talents and is an indication that the singer wants to be found faithful in the end. The song reinforces the message of living one's life in a way that is pleasing to God and keeping watch for Christ's return.

I just LOVE that song! The "Enter...into...my joy..." part is so hypnotizing. It makes you feel as if you are being greeted by the very Heavenly Host itself. It would be an honor, when I hear those words for myself, to be greeted with Heaven's perfect version of that amazing harmony!
