Michael Geist, also known as DJ Ghost, formed GGFH in 1986. After releasing several demo tapes and playing the occasional live show, Brian J. Walls joined the band and the duo were eventually signed to "Dreamtime Records" in 1992.
GGFH toured briefly with the metal bands Fear Factory and My Dying Bride and shortly after the tour, Brian J. Walls left the band to pursue other interests (1993).
Over the next 10 years DJ Ghost started a graphic design company and gained notoriety as a DJ. After the release of βThe Very Beast of GGFH Vol. 1β in 2001, DJ Ghost decided to begin work on another GGFH LP.
With the absence of Brian J. Walls, the bandβs main song writer, DJ Ghost looked to a handful of contributors to help write new GGFH material.
Serrated Smile was released in 2005.
In My Room

In my room, I sleep all day
In my room, I'm sweating for you
In my room is where I like to play
Obsessions fill me
Fill with me pleasure
Show no remorse
Obsessions fill me
Fill with me pleasure
Just a corpse
I'm mentally insane
Mentally insane
I hear the laughter, know what you're after
You come for me, to take me once again
I hear the laughter, know what you're after
You come for me, to take me once again
Take me once again
In my room, I've been waiting for you
In my room, something to see
In my room, I'm crazy for you
In my room, screaming to be free
Feeling weak now, blood loss is high
Incisions are made
Feeling weak now, blood loss is high
Sinking to the grave
Sinking to the grave
In my room, I've been waiting for you
In my room, I sleep all day
In my room, I'm sweating for you
In my room is where I like to play
Is where I like to play
Oh, it's time to play
Toys fill my room, fill it with darkness
Toys fill my room, trophies on the wall
See them crawl
In my room, just one me
In my room, screaming to get free
In my room, something for you to see
In my room
In my tomb
In my room
In my room, I've been waiting for you
In my room, I sleep all day
In my room, I'm sweating for you
Sweating for you
I'm sweating for you
Sweating for you
Sweating for you
The lyrics of G.G.F.H.'s song In My Room highlight themes of obsession, insanity, and imprisonment. The opening lines immediately set a tone of longing and waiting as the singer proclaims, "In my room, I've been waiting for you." There is a sense of isolation and detachment as the singer spends their time sleeping and sweating, indicating a lack of physical activity and engagement with the world outside their room.
This sense of detachment extends to the singer's mental state, as they express pleasure in their obsessions with a lack of remorse or pain. There is a disturbing depiction of mental instability as the singer describes themselves as "just a corpse" who is "mentally insane." The repetition of the line "take me once again" adds to the sense of being trapped and powerless.
The final verses of the song add a darker layer to the narrative as the singer references toys, darkness, and trophies in their room. The image of incisions and blood loss indicate self-harm or suicidal tendencies, and the final line "In my room, in my tomb" suggests a tragic end to the singer's story.
Overall, In My Room is a striking and unsettling exploration of the human psyche and the effects of isolation and obsession.
