G.L.O.S.S. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Swimming by
Red rivers near shore
Where there's war
In the mainstream
What's in those eyes?
I can only imagine
One can only imagine
Encapsulate sadness
In madness
Infecting the masses
We Fall As One
We Fall As One
We Fall As One
We Fall As One
Fear in the sky
Children they cry
In the dark
Under main streets
Who's in disguise?
I can only imagine
One can only imagine
Encapsulate sadness
In madness
Infecting the masses
We Fall As One
We Fall As One
We Fall As One
We Fall As One
We Fall As One
We Fall As One

We Fall As One
We Fall As One

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of G.L.O.S.S.'s song Demo are a powerful working class anthem that deals with themes of rebellion, perseverance, and empowerment. The song starts with the singer stating that they are unsure about the audience's reaction to their message. However, they urge them not to be closed-minded and try to understand their perspective without fear. Even if the song becomes successful, the singer acknowledges that the road ahead will not be easy and may be stressful.

The chorus takes a more combative tone, with the singer rejecting any attempts to be told what to do or how to think. They express frustration with those who try to impose their beliefs on them and declare that it's their turn to take control of their destiny. The second verse is particularly poignant, with the singer acknowledging the difficulties they faced in life and how they were often belittled and ostracized for their beliefs. Despite these setbacks, they vow to keep fighting until the end and stay true to themselves.

Overall, the lyrics of Demo can be interpreted as a call to action for anyone who has ever felt marginalized, oppressed or ignored. It's a powerful reminder that even in the face of adversity, one can still take control of their life and fight for what they believe in.

The people commenting here are presumably almost all punk/hardcore fans. This tells me that you potentially enjoy it when Ian Mackaye is shouting about his problems. You were probably into it when Ron Reyes shouted about his problems. You likely thought it was cool to hear what Jello Biafra had to shout about.

Then a trans woman shouts about her problems and it's "SJW bullshit," or "a trans gimmick," or whatever way you want to discredit this band for. Being a trans person can really suck. There's a story to be told there. Who are you to shame anybody for telling their story in a scene that is SPECIFICALLY about giving average people a platform to express themselves?

+So Sorry Official LOL

@johnhubbinsphd3498

You aren't dictated to be trans for life, you can change your sexual orientation

@productive_citizen

+Awyatt Mann Not every trans woman is straight, there are lesbian trans women. Sexuality =/= gender identity.

@productive_citizen

+Awyatt Mann Transsexuality is not listed on any mental illness list. Unless you have groundbreaking research on the matter you'd like to share with the medical community, you are wrong.

@TheJajajajaja21

+So Sorry Official it all boils down to "i don't understand and therefore hate."

The drums are like a cement mixer, wham, guitars: a revving engine. Vocals, a hero standing on the edge. This music is awesome.
