Me and You
G.W. Turner Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You came when I was happy in your sunshine
And I grew to love you more each passing day
Before too long I'd filled my world around you
Yeah and I prayed you loved enough of me to stay

Oh if you love me let me know
If you don't then let me go
I can't take another minute of this day without you in it
If you love me let it be
If you don't set me free
Take the chains away that keep me loving you

I'm talkin' 'bout the arms that open wide to hold me closer
And the hand that run their fingers through my hair
And the smile that says hello it's good to see you
Any time I turn around and find you there

Oh it's this and so much more that makes me love you
What else can I do to make you see
You know you'll have whatever's mine to give you
But a love affair for one get there with you

So if you love me let me know
If you don't let me go
I can't take another minute of the day without you near
If you love me let it be
If you don't then set me free
Just take these chains away that keeps me loving you

If you love me let me know

And if you don't let me go
Just take these chains away that keeps me loving you

Overall Meaning

t keep holding on

The song "Me and You" by G.W. Turner is about holding onto the pieces of a broken relationship. The lyrics describe a collection of memories and promises, both broken and fulfilled, that the singer has with their partner. Despite the pain and disappointment of broken promises, the singer still holds onto the hope that their love will endure. The repetition of the phrase "holding on" emphasizes this idea of holding onto the pieces of the relationship, even when it is difficult.

The first verse suggests that the singer had expected their partner to show up for a party, but they never did. When someone asked about the partner, the singer had to give an explanation for their absence, causing pain and reminding them of broken promises. In the second verse, the singer reminisces about the promises their partner had made to meet in various locations around the world, but none of them came true. However, the singer still holds onto the love they once shared and the memories they made together.

Overall, the song is a bittersweet reflection on love and relationships. It acknowledges the pain of broken promises, but also celebrates the beauty of the memories that remain.

Here are the lyrics!😁

Would you go with me if we rolled down streets of fire
Would you hold on to me tighter as the summer sun got higher
If we roll from town to town and never shut it down

Would you go with me if we were lost in fields of clover
Would we walk even closer until the trip was over
And would it be okay if I didn't know the way

If I gave you my hand would you take it
And make me the happiest man in the world
If I told you my heart couldn't beat one more minute without you, girl
Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea
Let me know if you're really a dream
I love you so, so would you go with me

Would you go with me if we rode the clouds together
Could you not look down forever
If you were lighter than a feather
Oh, and if I set you free, would you go with me

If I gave you my hand would you take it
And make me the happiest man in the world
If I told you my heart couldn't beat one more minute without you, girl
Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea
Help me tie up the ends of a dream
I gotta know, would you go with me
I love you so, so would you go with me

Josh Turner has the best male voice I've ever heard in my life of 56 years. It speaks to and resonates within my soul.
I can easily listen to one of his many songs of his on constant repeat for ages! I'm a sad case, lol.
I also happen to believe that he is a true gentleman and a very caring, generous person who is a fine example of manhood. If all men behaved like him, the world would be a mega multi million times happier than it currently is.

My idea of personal auditory heaven, would be to live as an invisible speck (with ears) and sit on his shoulder, so that I could hear his voice every minute of the day (not including any personal content with his wife) then I would be the happiest being on earth and, when it's over, I'll mix in with the dirt on the ground and no longer exist. It would suit me fine.
(I know things like this can never happen and I don't admire men in general much, but I'd make an exception just this once.)

Unlike Josh, I'm not a believer in any church based religion, I have my own beliefs, but he is a credit to his parents, god and religion. If all of Christianity had been more full of people like Josh, I suspect there would have been very few religious wars or intolerance.

I may be entirely wrong, but this is MY personal judgement of his goodness.
