It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday
G. C. Cameron Lyrics

The good times that made us laugh, outweighed the bad.
I thought we'd get to see forever, but forever has blown away.
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
I don't know where this road is gonna lead to.
All I know is where we've been and what we've been through.
If it gets me to tomorrow, I hope it's worth all the pain. It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories to be my sunshine after the rain.
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
This song is a poignant and bittersweet ode to the end of a relationship or the loss of a loved one. The first verse begins with the question, "How do I say goodbye to what we had?" This question expresses the difficulty of letting go of memories and the painful inevitability of change. The line "The good times that made us laugh, outweighed the bad" acknowledges that despite the challenges that may have been faced in the past, the good times were more meaningful and important.
The second verse reflects on the uncertainty that lies ahead. The singer doesn't know what the future holds, but they do know the journey they've been on with their loved one. But the line "If it gets me to tomorrow, I hope it's worth all the pain" reveals that the pain of letting go may be worth it if it leads to a brighter future.
The chorus, "It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday" is repeated twice after each verse, emphasizing the difficulty of letting go. The final line "And I'll take with me the memories to be my sunshine after the rain" offers a glimmer of hope. While the relationship or loved one may be gone, the memories can still bring warmth and comfort in the aftermath.
Overall, the song captures the universal experience of loss and the struggle to move forward while holding onto the past. It's a reminder to cherish the good times and to find solace in memories.

When this movie was released, my class went to Chicago to watch it at the Chicago theater. My mom had just passed away a few months before this movie was released and when the end of the movie started the funeral, the song came on and I bawled like a little baby. I couldn't stop crying...was embarrassed for a bit, but my friends hugged me and got me through it. I am tearing up right now...I miss my momma right now.
